Apostle Laetatus - Guide
Introduction
Your Voice hopes to become a Name, and as the Heart-Apostle, you've been charged with making that a reality. But, if you've hit a creative roadblock during your efforts to bring about the Masterpiece, worry not! This guide will provide some hopefully helpful hints (and if need be, spoilers) on what a dutiful little Apostle ought to do for their Voice. As with all things Cultist Simulator, I recommend trying to figure things out for yourself first, but there's no harm done in seeking a bit of help if you're at wit's end. As the great artists would have it: "there is no cheating nor stealing in art - only homage".

The Necessary Steps
  • The Manuscript
If the premiere is to succeed, the musical blueprint of the Masterpiece must be written down somewhere. Specifically, your Voice has ordered you to write upon "that mortal parchment, pared from the sinews of man". This phrase alone must give you some inkling of where you need to do your writing, but the trouble is how to get the necessary material.

Hint: Examine the aspects attached to the Divine Inspiration your Voice sends you. Where does that fit?

If you place Divine Inspiration in a rite with any imprisoned individual, you will receive Untreated Skin. Be wary - the Untreated Skin will decay to nothing in 60 seconds unless Witch-Kissed Oil is applied to it; the necessary oil can be acquired at Gladwyn Lake in the Shires. Work with the Untreated Skin and the Witch-Kissed Oil, and you'll receive Blank Manuscript Pages.

Once you have the blank pages, the next step is mere musical dictation: "transcribe what I dictate to you in dreams". This part is relatively straightforward, and you can probably figure it quickly.

Working with the pages and Divine Inspiration will progress the manuscript by one stage. You will be working all through the night - a Health card will be necessary to endure the hours spent up by candlelight. Failure to provide will not progress the manuscript. After successfully writing seven times, you will have the completed manuscript for the Masterpiece in your hands.

  • The Assemblage
You have the written music. Now, you'll need a select few instruments for the coming performance: "the Flute, the Twin-Drums, the Bell, and the final, favoured instrument of my Contemporary". For the most part, completing the Assemblage involves going to the correct expeditions and acquiring the relevant tools.

Hint: If you place the Art of Arts in the Work Verb, you can check the "Intention" slot to see what specific tools you'll need to collect. The instrument of your Voice's contemporary - or "peer" - will be notably harder to acquire.

The Flute: The Bone Flute, acquired at Crowkiss Hill.

The Twin-Drums: The Wakeful Tympanum and the Kingskin Bodhrán, acquired at the Voivode's Citadel and Messana, respectively.

The Bell: The Division Bell, acquired at the Temple of Seven Coils.

The Contemporary's Instrument: The actual instrument will vary depending on who you Immortal Enemy is, but the means of acquiring it will always remain the same. You must destroy the Long antagonizing you and take their signature instrument from them.

Gather the necessary instruments, consolidate them into the Assemblage, and you will be one step closer to the Masterpiece's premiere.

  • The Ensemble
Music, instruments, and yet the orchestra's seats are empty. The Assemblage is useless on its own; you must "find the players to take it up". Further still is a crowning element: "Seize one who would censor us, and deliver them unto a Percussigant to be twisted into the foremost member of the Ensemble".

Hint: If you've played around with where you can place Divine Inspiration, you will see that the Dream Verb will accept the card.

Another Hint: If you're stuck on where the Head Ensemblist might be recruited from, consider who might be working to censor your art, and then consider whether or not they'll contribute to your Masterpiece willingly.

Dreaming six times with Divine Inspiration will create and thereafter develop the Ensemble, up to the sixth stage of intensity. Be careful - the incomplete Ensemble will downgrade every 120 seconds unless refreshed in the Work Verb with a Passion. Refreshing the timer creates Fascination, so be wary of that, too. The seventh and final stage requires the Head Ensemblist to be combined with the incomplete Ensemble. The process of actually creating the Head Ensemblist, however, involves capturing any Hunter and talking to a Percussigant with about them. Once the changes are made, the Head Ensemblist will be ready to join your ranks. My personal recommendation is that you get the Head Ensemblist before building the rest of the Ensemble via dreaming. That way, you don't build to sixth stage and then weep once you realize you don't have the necessary components to finish the job.

  • The Flaying Key
Your Voice must pass the Kingskin Gate in victory to become a Name of the Thunderskin, and the Ligeians are known to hold the Keys that can open the Doors of the Mansus in the appropriate manner.

Hint: If you've played the other Apostle Legacies, you will be aware that there is a certain woman in the Capital who can introduce you to the necessary Key-Holder.

Talking to Sulochana about Divine Inspiration will grant you A Ligeian's Whereabouts, which can point you to one of three locations: the Unnumbered Stones, Foxlily Meadows, or the Tombs of the Shadowless Kings. Completing the relevant expedition with the clue in your possession will allow you to contact the Ligeian who keeps the Flaying Key. Important - you cannot meet the Key-Holder unless you first get the clue from Sulochana.

Once you've contacted Marinette, you'll still have to her sate her hunger before she agrees to lend you her Key. In Apostle Obsonate, she will require a meal of seven followers, manually chosen to be sacrificed to her appetites. In Apostle Laetatus, however, Marinette will decide she wants to pick her meals for herself. Talk to Marinette, and it will spawn a verb that will periodically and randomly snatch up any mortal on the board - follower, hunter, patron, rival - and destroy them. Each time she hunts someone, her Hunger will decrease by 1 and a Notoriety will be produced. After she takes seven victims, her hunt will end, and Marinette will give you a token to promise her assistance at the Masterpiece's premiere.

  • The Heart's Highest Mysteries...
It's the Unceasing Mysteries.

  • ...And Its Most Potent Auspices
It's An Imminence, which is the highest possile Heart influence in the game. Note that you cannot get this from any Door in the Mansus; you'll have to craft it manually from lower influences. Preserving influences by discussing them with Sulochana will be immensely useful here.

The process for getting An Imminence is admittedly quite convoluted. What I usually do is visit the White Door and first get either Pulsing Airs or An Icy Atmosphere. After getting either one, I delay its decay by talking to Sulochana about it, and then set about revisiting the White Door for until I have either a pair of Pulsing Airs or a Pulsing Airs and An Icy Atmosphere. Either combination will allow you to craft Pounding Airs, the tenth-order Heart influence. Again, I delay the decay on the Pounding Airs by talking to Sulochana about it, and then go to the Ascent of Knives at the Stag Door until I receive A Bitter Atmosphere. With a tenth-order Winter influence and a tenth-order Heart influence now in your possession, you can craft An Imminence.

  • Finishing Touches
Combine all these components in the Rite Intercalate - the Masterpiece, the Assemblage, the Ensemble, the Key-Holder's Assistance, the Unceasing Mysteries, and An Imminence - and the music will begin.

Perfection.
