Are you enjoying Classic more than vanilla?
If so, why, and what can be done to make Classic even better?

Does this include On a Rail Uncut?

Its already cool, but BMCE support will make it even better:click:.

I love almost all of the changes this provides. Delineating puzzles and adding backwards progression for when you want to go pick up some health you missed is great. This is a great mix between Half-Life and Black Mesa.

I agree with the comment above, if you were to make a version that requires BMCE that would be a godsend act, assuming that you're still updating this mod. Some cool extra setpieces could also be achieved with character models from BMCE:R and similar addons.

I didn't realize how flawed the default campaign was until I tried Classic today. I absolutely love how you guys extended Forget about Freeman and how you added more challenging combat. My only wish is for this to become compatible with BMCE. Classic is a 10/10 mod.

More to come. Check out the new incarnation of UC.

I remember playing free version BM and being amazed at how good the Glock was. Perfect accuracy and fast firing rate, it almost made SMG unnecessary. They nerfed it hard for the Steam version to be closer to original. Does this version restore it to its former glory?

So far, absolutely, yes! I was apprehensive at first, and wasn't even sure I had the mod installed for a minute, but the moment I got to the extended bit in We've Got Hostiles, I fell in love. The increased enemy count, while annoying at times, makes me feel like I'm in actual danger throughout, and I remember a few scenarios where I had to dive into a nearby vent or canal to get out of an encounter alive. I like how you can finally shoot the padlocks in Office Complex. That always made no sense to me. Though, I'm curious, is there anyway to deactivate the electrical current in the flooded room? I know in Half-Life you can flip a light switch that isn't there in Black Mesa. I tried shooting at the power socket, but nothing came of it. Maybe I missed something. Anyway, sorry for the mouthful. Love what you've done so far! Going into Blast Pit with high hopes.

The power socket next to the desk is the button, just like in the original. In current vanilla, there's a very out of place looking button on the left hand side of the window you use to enter the office, which everybody misses, and interacting with the power socket does nothing.

Map changes only. You can modify all the weapons yourself using skill.cfg and the weapon dmx files.

Oh, hell yeah! I am enjoying BMS Classic way more than vanilla BM. It is such a great mod, very well documented too. It's one of those mods you can't live without after experiencing them. Good job, guys!
I can't think of anything right now that would make BMS Classic better, it's already pretty good as it is!

I'm sorry, but I've hit a fork in the road between this and Chapter Overhaul. On one hand, the Overhauls utilized the BMCE mod(though I'm aware your maps were used in some chapters) and also restored memorable setpieces(especially On a Rail's track switch battle and WGH's vents), BMS Classic seems to lean more toward the atmosphere(WGH and Cold Lighting On a Rail look fantastic). Which mods would you suggest I use, because I'm stumped.

I don't know if you guys have, but I recently played Half-Life: MMOD, a mod for the original Half-life you can find free on the Steam Store. It offers extensive weapon gameplay changes but it also improves chapters like Residue Processing, Questionable Ethics and Lambda Core.

I think I had the best Residue Processing & Lambda Core experience of all time with HL: MMOD! Bringing its improvements over to BMS Classic would be fire! I think Residue Processing should be slightly reimagined like you guys did with Forget About Freeman, like a semi-horror chapter bordering on the same tone as Unforeseen Consequences. Almost like you fell into a Xen infested hellhole with zombies, headcrabs and bullsquids everywhere. Doing that would obviously need the ammo pickups bumped up and maybe restoring the secret mp5 in that one map. Maybe also introducing colder lighting like you guys did with On A Rail.

I really enjoy the increased enemy count and the challenge that comes with it. I also love all of the secret rooms and puzzles that you can find along the way, like in on a rail with the electrical generator! I just wish that the on a rail loop mod and the uncut on a rail were included with this. And also BMCE, although that may be challenging for such a small team to implement all of the mod's npc variations.

this mod makes good changes in the game but unfortunately the cons are just more annoying that i can't even consider this the definitive way to play Black mesa. also this doesn't seem like a Classic version of vanilla, i see it more like an attempt for a difficulty rebalance.
