"A parasite that slowly decomposes a living being. When this parasite is contracted, bodyparts and organs of the host start to slowly decompose, reducing it's efficiency and finally destroying the body part/organ. Contact with the blood and filth of the host has a chance of infecting other beings, human or animal. The simplest way of removing the virus is amputation of any bodyparts with parasites in them. If the parasites get to a body part that can't be amputated (torso, neck etc), special medicine needs to be administered. In the worst scenario, where the parasite got to a part that can't be amupated, and no medicine can be used... It's best to end the suffering of the victim of parasites"
The disease is fictitious. The best way to explain it, is the zombie decomposition in something like 28 days later or other shows, Where after a period the zombies would slowly die out from decomposition. I combined that idea with a living being, except faster and curable.
My idea is that when a person gets infected with the parasites, a random bodypart would get a headiff similar to an infection. When the pawn gets the headiff, the parasite would slowly become more serious, until it destroys the bodypart/organ. During that phase, It can randomly spread to other parts of the body OR other pawns.
I don't really have a name for it... You can call it how ya want!
Aquatic parasites cross the inter-species barrier feeding globally on human meat.
In the film a hundred different amputations are performed in one night to try to save the infected people.
This disease could be interesting but I'm afraid to turn your colony into a cripple camp.
This must be manageable by playing with congasiosity, virulence and lethality.
I would probably add it in a maj dedicated to parasites.
Thank you for this idea. :)
As for turning my colony into cripples, as long the spread happens in the later parts of the infection like major, it should be manageable. Though yeah, it's gonna be pretty hard, first it turns your colonists into vegetables, then it turns them into mashed potatos.
If one day I add HIV and AIDS I could eventually add it as a complication of the disease.
The fungus responsible for athlete's foot could have mutated by contaminating a person in a hyper-sleep chamber giving him time to come out bigger from that boxed breakfast.
It's RimWorld Human Skin Cap, Organ Factory, Flake Lab; everything is possible.

"When a pawn is infected with 001, over the span of a couple hours (A lot longer than how normally it does it, about 30 secounds) they will feel weakened, then paralized, and then they will feel like their body is melting. In fact, it IS melting. The Brain, their arms, their legs, every bodypart will turn into goop. They become hideous, slow, weak and (Worst of it all) they still are alive, full of pain and agony with the disease controlling them. They are almost invincible, and the best course of action is quarantine. The disease is hard to get and there is little germs coming from the infected. What makes it spread then? Dead bodies, they will find dead bodies, do some finnicky operation and they ressurect the body, the body becoming almost the same as the first host. Never let it in a corpse stockpile. Or if it does get in, Burn the place down"
How I think it would work, Is the infected limbs will slowly "hurt" themself, and then getting a hediff "Melted" that maximizes their efficiency at like 10% for example, But increases the pain treshhold, armor and reduces damage done to the infected. They will move slowly, attack your colonists and infect dead bodies. How I think they would infect is either 2 ways:
1. Bodies near infected get ressurected, kinda like how you use devmode to ressurect them
2. They can perform an action on the bodies (Kinda like stripping), which ressurects the person
Fire also damages them greatly.
It's fictitious. You can find more information and a pretty good horror story here: http://www.scpwiki.com/shaggydredlocks-proposal##.
