What I'd like to see is an adjustment to how separatists rebel. As it is, it doesn't feel like there is any inherent narrative to the shift - which is a real missed opportunity, imo. Though, easy to say when you're not the one writing the code. ;)

I'm imagining four 'states' to a faction: black (rebellion), red, amber, green (no issues).

An amber faction is one that is on the border between being at risk of rebellion and being fine. Say opinion 40.01-45.00. This faction may start issuing political demands, which if accepted will boost their opinion for a little while if denied will incur a malus (think: the manifesti narrative chain). Might even be cool to link this into faction support, where the larger the support percentile the more difficult/frequent these demands will be.

The idea being to discourage players from gaming the system and allowing factions to sit on the fence with impunity. My thinking is that this will also allow more players to engage with the Civil War mechanics and help avoid the Civil Wars being an AI only mechanic.

A red faction is one that is in danger of rebelling, but hasn't rebelled. In this state a faction would start acting up, with potential terror attacks and the like. It could be really cool if this linked in with Useful Heirs and raised the potential that a faction might make an attempt on the Heirs' life or another leader.

On a less violent note, prior to rebellion I would like to see the faction leader issue an ultimatum demand. Something which if accepted would prevent the rebellion and give a substantial opinion boost for a few years. Enough to bring the faction into an ember-state, so they still a pain, but they're no longer a national danger.


As you can see, my thoughts mostly revolve around enhancing the faction-play side of the mod. Honestly, I think everything else is implemented wonderfully. But I would love to see events where you are given the opinion to enter into public debates with faction leaders, or issue police actions to round up the leaders of potentially troublesome factions.

Events letting you interact with factions leaders and potentially stop Civil Wars through deals is something I will definitely look at for the future. It's a good idea.
