Suggestions for new Psycasts
Hey y'all. If you have any suggestions for new psycasts feel free to share them. If they are not too involved to implement I will consider adding them in. I have a few plans currently, however putting together one whole pack at a time seems more reasonable.

I've been looking for a directly burn a target's brain type thing for a while. So like the psycast hits a single target and sends them unconscious, small chance to instantly kill and a moderate chance of brain damage.
Useful for either knocking a strong pawn out of a fight or capturing them.
This would be quite powerful so to balance, I'd make it have a high cost and high psylink level.
I'd love to know what you think. :)

Well, the biggest issue I see with damaging or attack psycasts is the fact how they can break the balance. However, I guess the psychic lance does exactly this, so I might copy its effect but make the chance for braindamage rise to 100%. Then you can capture him, however the pawn has to be fixed before you can make use of him ;) . I guess Ill add this idea to the damaging pack.

maybe, teleport all the air in a 3 tile radius away. Targets will lose consciousness over time in this area(due to oxygen deprivation) until they eventually pass out.

actually i got a few that shouldnt be too hard to impliment(according to my limited knowledge of mod making).
Engulf: set a target on fire
radial disarm: makes everything in a radius around the caster drop their weapons. EVERYONE.(except for the caster)
firestorm(requires lvl6 and a really good psycaster): creates a tornado, but instead of damaging blocks it sets them on fire
enhance: can be used on turrets, and mortars, to make them more accurate for a short time
sterilize: cleans a 5x5 area
if i come up with more, ill dump them here.

  • Spawn chunk/wall/vein of random mineable resources (from 4 to 10 tiles based on RNG).
  • Spawn single (1x1) piece of wall (picked from vanilla rocks pool like slate or marble).
  • Spawn random weapon of total value of less than x.
  • Spawn some mature trees (2-9) that are in between 70-100% of growth.
  • Spawn a few mature berry shrubs (2-5) that have at least 70% growth meter.
  • Spawn a few (1-3) mature healing herbs, ready to be hearvested.
  • Add x growth progress to a single plant.
  • Add a bit of growth progress to plants on 5x5 area.

I think some basic production psycasts would be very cool.
Examples:

Chunks into bricks
75% efficient (3 blocks instead of 4)

lvl 2 psycast

low focus and heat cost to make it somewhat usable.

Lvl 3 or 4 psycast

Lower-moderate cost to heat and focus.

5x5 (or other size) destroy items/corpses (eases clean up after raids of unwanted items) (also helps performance as decaying items seem to slow the game in large quantities)

Destroys all items in cast region.
Lvl 1-4 psycast

Lower-moderate cost to heat and focus.
---------------
Absorb item (maybe only biological items like food, wood, or chemfuel) (cap at 75 to prevent stacking mods for overloading pawns heat caps)

Destroys item, stack, or part of a stack.

Lvl 5 or 6 psycast

Restores focus based on item trade value for player (affected by negotiation skill?), but costs heat. Or could reduce heat at the cost of focus.

This might be useful for launching the ship if the player is using casts frequently and has extra wealth lying around.

So i feel like this one is the only one that would be unbalanced, but thats just me. Just because you could just bring a resource that you have in abundance(like light leather, or fur) and cast to your hearts delight. Option A, restoring focus at the cost of heat, well heat goes down quicker if the colonist is in pain, so, if your colonist is hurting then you could use this for near constant psycasts. Option B, reducing heat at the cost of focus is a bit better, because abusing this ability will run your character out of focus eventually, but it would probably make neural heat dump completely useless, as you can keep your pawns up and just sacrifice some resource that you have too much of. If its only biological/food stuff, thats somewhat better, but not far from abusable. Other than this one, i like the rest of these.

Some other psycast mod pack had tsome psycats I liked, maybe you could make a balanced version in your upcoming pack. :) Was eithrr vanyas abilities 1 or 2. Or extra psycast. Anyway.

1. Pyrocast. Sets 1 cell on fire from good range. Nice to have so you don't need a pawn catty molotov of something when you need to burn something. (fireskip)

2. Psychic shock. Basically 1 to 1 the psxhvic Schock lance item. You already mentioned that above as an idea

3. Photosynthesis or something.
Just flat add some growth % to plants into a 3x3 square.

4. Tending touch. Tends multiple wound at the same time, but at very low treatment quality.

My ideas:

5. Words of withdrawal. Ends 1 drug addiction that is not lucifrrium, needs to be balanced somehow.

6. Words of wisdom
Increase learning rate by 100% for 24 hours

Fill a battery
Drain power
Emtpy a battery to gain psyfocus, causes burns and some heat buildun

New meditarinn type. Power-hungry,availabke to greedy triat.
Absorbs energy from batteries to gain psyfocus. Meditation gain rate dependent on the battery charge

Earthquake
Causes a local (vanilla event expanded) earthquake with a good chance to trigger a too deep insect attack like with deep drills

Tap into Speedforce (like the flash)
Let's the psycaster run at 3x speed for short time Windows and get very high evasion. Only castable on self
