Update on testing: all the psycasts are working with only one error: mass invisibility is creating weird glitched squares around the targets. The glitch is purely visual, tho.

What's not visual is the settings not applying to the game. Changing any values for various psycasts didn't seem to do anything (but maybe that is due to the softlocking in the settings menu).

Oh, I just got softlocked in the mod's settings menu - had to alt+f4 to exit :/

Also, the log says "initializer for 'MorePsycasts.DefsRemover' threw an exception" whatever it means

Ok, sure here https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3427661187 is a version of the mod without the art and the MIT license, which should allow others to take and modify it. If I indeed blocked you gwendoodle<3 that was accidental. The other mod contains some old graphics that I created, but I did not put the effort in to make sure that it is actually functional (i.e. the code is currently linkind to non existent graphics files.) Good luck.

the plan wasn't too complicated. If you remove the assets DC contributed and copied the code, something you exclusively own, to a new mod, you could then register it under a different license and since you are the sole owner of the code, you could then make it open source to allow others to take over. It's very little work for you, sidesteps DC's ownership of the art by just not including it (idk put placeholders or smth? maybe just like numbers?)

all actual modernization would be taken up by others, like mlie, with full credit.

Hey, I think I might have an idea to circumvent the creative commons license. I'm pretty sure what I'm doing doesn't violate anything, but I'd prolly be better speaking to someone with enough experience to have actually licensed something. I sent you a friend request. Nope. We're all patiently waiting for it...

I mean, the mod is usable but several psycasts are broken and will freeze your game if you try to use them (reviving touch and repair especially).

Most psycasts still work btw but the reviving touch is completely dysfunctional and breaks the game on the current version. Whenever I want to use it, I turn on god mode, spawn a mech resurrector serum, and manually deplete the caster's psyfocus to 0.

@PeanutButterSammich, I actually know a solution without messing with the code: use the mod "More Than Capable". This mod replaces complete refusal to do types of works with disliking them instead so every colonist is capable of doing every type of job but when they do something they don't like, they'll be upset and do it worse - and it also unlocks psycasts for pacifists, of course.

Ik the Author doesn't plan on updating the mod, but does any1 know how to make these casts work w/non-violent casters?

The normal vanilla casts work on pacifist pawns, but the ones from this mod don't, even if they are mostly utility casts.

From my snooping through the files, it seems like it'd be a matter of adding the line
<casterMustBeCapableOfViolence>false</casterMustBeCapableOfViolence>
to the definitions of each psycast, but I'm too much of a noob to know where to find them. I tried, & found a file that looked promising ((...)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\294100\2460833332\Defs\HediffDefs.xml), but the amount of "blocks" of code that seemed to define the cast properties didn't seem to line up with the amount of casts listed in the Workshop page.

Again, that might just be my inexperience, leading to me just not noticing where everything was.

So, yeah. Any1 know if I'm on the right track here, & what I am missing? Ty in advance for reading through this.

What are these licenses even for?
Subscription-based workshop items can't be owned by oneself(it's steam's) and trying to add a stamp to everything quite simply goes against the nature of modding in itself

A thought, would it work to license the art CC-BY-NC-ND, but the code CC-BY-NC-SA or similar? That could let people update the code so long as they don't change the art.

Hey, so just a quick update. So far I have not planned on updating this mod. I have no clue if it works as is. I will see about changing the license. The biggest reason for the license were the graphics, which were done by DC. So if anyone wants to update it, feel free, shouldnt be that much work honestly. I can also upload it here and add whoever as a contributor. Maybe I will find the time to update it myself, but I wont promise anything. Also, VPE is a no. If anyone wants to make all of the casts available in VPE in some way they can do it, but I am not in the mood to mingle with VPE. Personally, I dont like their psycast system. However, I hereby allow anyone to use my casts in their VPE version of this mod. I know some people already attempted to implement VPE stuff, but I guess they never finished.

Feedback picking this mod up again, I love a lot of the newer casts you've added, but the numbers on reverse aging feel extremely weak. Maybe I have other mods affecting this, and if so I apologise, but it seems to maybe shave off the duration it's active plus 33%. For the 90% energy cost plus the obscene penalties to the person it's being done on, that just feels like a letdown for a level 6 cast compared to something like bringing the dead back to life, which you also offer at the same level.
