'Ground-penetrating scanner' in caverns
Would it be possible to remove the unroofed requirement for the scanner or introduced a mod specific version that will work in caverns?

Not sure what you mean. The scanner buildings can't be built under roofs and you can't remove roofs in the cavern biomes.

yeah those unremoveable roofs cause alot of problems like orbital trade cant send you items, shuttles that you cant fly over for a mission to kill a base or transport pods.

i have fixed it using my mod:

Features:
Shuttles can launch under roof.
Shuttles can go to under roof ship landing beacon area.
Buildings that could not be build under a roof now can.
Buildings that could not be used under a roof now can.
Fixes Obital Trade Beacon so it will drop items even if there is a roof over the whole map(made for caves, turn it off if you are on normal ground).

What about comms console? IRL it won't work underground, so maybe it shouldn't work in game as well?

I remember Rhadamant streaming his variant of post-nuclear environment, he had to set up separate trading outpost outdoors, that's much more realistic, why not move that way and made some adjustments in mod to simplify management of outdoor outposts?

I also suggest adding some kind of seismometer in mod for underground recon and communication and to think about some clever gaming mechanic around it.
