Common solutions to common problems

Track Generation
Track Scanning ends in an error:
  • Make sure track is clear and no creations or object are in the way (including player, easily solved by standing directly on top of the track scanner)
  • Make sure there are no holes or gaps in the walls of the track or that the walls are not too low
  • Try to move the track Scanner and scan again. If nothing works, write a bug report (screenshots and/or a link to the track on the workshop are helpful!)

Car is not moving:
  • Make sure the switch connected to the Race Control Terminal is On
  • Press E on the engine block to soft reset
  • Click "Reset Race" on the Race Control Terminal Interface
  • Stop the race (if running), delete and re-place driver block (Make sure to save the car again after scan)

Car is acting funny (stuck on wall when shouldn't, etc):
  • Check the position of the driver block, if there is a joint (suspension/bearing/piston, in front of it, it may be causing the car to think there is a wall in front of it. try placing the driver in a more clear position
  • Click "Reset Race" on the race control to do a hard reset of all driver blocks

Game Is really laggy
  • Scrap mechanic tends to lag when there are many vehicles are on track and nearby. You can wait out this lag or delete a few cars
  • There is a minor inefficiency in the search code when a driver is off track by too much, it does timeout after some time but the best way to fix this is to find the car that is well off track and bring it back

Track Scanner Nodes are all white after a successful scan
  • Re-toggle the node display by crouching and interacting with the scanner

    problem: the cars dont start when i start the race. nothing happens

    additional info: the car feels like it has no connections to the wheels/steering .. bearings are moveable not stiff like normal

    tried solutions: reinstall the whole game, new map, new car, new construction, new connections

    + track scanning and car scanning give no errors. booth run trough the process as normal

    ive done a lot of races with no problems

    Ah I see the problem! Thank you very much. It looks like when the race control is trying to reset the cars, It doesn't like to sending an alert after starting from the server (sandbox violation)

    Please give me 5-10 minutes and I will get this fixed and uploaded.

    Hi! Sorry but it didnt work!

    i started the game, it downloaded a new version of your mod. then i created a new map, scanned the racetrack and started it. the car didnt move

    Okay this is now a different error!
    This error is within the new track generator code (updated last night), the scan should be seeing all turns but is not scanning properly. Unfortunately the car does not move if the track isn't scanned, I am looking for ways around this.
    Apologies. I pushed the update without fully testing.
    Thank you for your patience, I will get on it and should be ready in 10-20 minutes this time as I want to make sure everything is fully working before updating again

    Thank you :) and also thank you again for your patience, Things *should* be working
    now with the track generator, It was a silly mistake that I definitely should have caught except for the fact that it was 2 am when I pushed it lol

    Edit: If it does work, please try out your faster car and let me know if that is fast enough.
    If it is still too slow: don't worry, I will be adding custom speed control in the near future!

    the car in the video worked a lot of times perfectly. i rebuild it and same problem

    Ah perfect! thank you for the heads up!
    Do you mind Crouch Interacting the track scanner to toggle the colors? it seems like something may be broken there (blue should be right turns, red should be left)

    Also do you mind interacting (toggling debug) on the Driver block too? if everything is set up properly, it should show the car scan and car ID

    The first solution would be to break the driver block then re-placing/connecting it. There may be something wrong with the car dimensions not being saved properly. (I also recommend saving the creation again afterwards so that it won't revert back)

    The final and actual way that I can know EXACTLY what is going on is if you set the launch option of SM to "-dev" and then try again. It will print a whole lot of information, hopefully including the error.

    I am trying to replicate exactly what you did (I unfortunately do not have the same car)
    and it worked for me. So this makes me think that there is something wrong with your specific car. (I recommend the -dev mode to hopefully find out completely)

    When i "crouch-click" (you mean crouch and press E right?) then the white bubbles go away. The red and blue colors never show up (yesterday i still have had the colors)

    i have rebuild the wole car and replaced and reconected the driveblock a lot of times .from now on i will use your vehicles to test them, unfortunately they don't work either.

    Yep! I got it! It looks like you either did not actually get the updated code or something went completely bonkers, because on my end, I am not getting that error... :/

    It should be setting the first segments as nodes 1-66 and then 66-81

    For some reason, the log is skipping it.

    AHA!! IT is indeed the case, you actually did not get the updated code for some reason...
    I'm checking those exact lines and I have changed the statement that prints to line 870 to
    "Setting Between segment (start)"... and I also removed the "SIMPLYFI CHAIN" statement. those should not even be there at all.

    Maybe try unsubscribing and re-subscribing to the mod.
