UPDATE 0.4.1 | Improvements to Tactical Mode & Frag

  • Tactical mode grid (10m, 50m)
  • Option to toggle tactical mode gridlines

Fixed
  • Fragmentation getting absorbed in certain situations
  • Environment values reset to outdated defaults upon exiting tactical mode
  • Tactical mode markers drawing over HUD elements

  • Added tactical mode camera bounds (based on player's position)
  • Tempered brightness of tactical mode view in bright map conditions
  • Improved readability of the preview image

The fragmentation goes through ground material and clutter now as it should so it works a lot better on most maps. The frag system is really awesome so far, it'd be cool if the fragmentation size could be randomized slightly so there's a few big chunks of shrapnel mixed with a bunch of small pieces. The fragmentation also having additional penetration instead of stopping at the first material it hits would be amazing as well.

Would it also be possible to have separate amounts of fragmentation for the different shell sizes? Right now both the howitzer and mortar HE shells produce the same amount of frag, it'd be cool if we could set their fragmentation amounts individually in some way, though I get that'd probably be a lot of work to implement.

I'm glad you are enjoying the fragmentation update! Currently, fragmentation size is randomized but the amount of randomization is small. I will experiment with increasing the randomization.

Fragmentation ballistics are definitely something I want to look into in the future. However, there are performance considerations to keep in mind so it might be an opt-in feature as a result.

It is definitely possible and a good idea! That is another thing to add to my TODO list.

Thank you for your suggestions, I will look into making the suggested changes when I have the time.
