(YAML mod) Required heat sinks for engines under 250 cost slots AND tonnage
I recently aquired a Locust and decided since I have over 100mil cbills I'd make a super expensive locust for the new Solaris dlc missions. I put in a 160 engine and it required 4 more heat sinks. When I added it in, it shot my tonnage over from 19 (after putting in an xl engine, UL gyro endo ferro etc) to 23. Not only do the sinks require slots they are adding in the tonnage and I seem to remember that they should be free or am I mis remembering something? (oh in Roguetech mod for Battletech the sinks are free tonnage..is that what I'm remembering? mixing mods?)

The first ten heatsinks are free. there's a counterweight to fix the weight of the sinks you need to put on, so it all balances

sorry for the late reply but short version YAML calculates engine weight a bit weirdly for people used to tabletop construction. basically your 160 engine is 4 tons lighter than it would be in tabletop so when you add the 4 extra heat sinks to reach the 10 sink minimum you still weigh as much as you would in tabletop with the same engine and same number of sinks.
