Research Books: Any way to up the chance of getting visitors that sell them?

I desperately want to learn metallurgy and intermediate cooking, but nobody ever comes by selling the goods. Is there anything I can do to increase the chances of obtaining these books? Thanks!

You can try to get the trader type called scholar, they show up with some books. But you can also try to raid some MO-related ruins. In ruins you can find some books as well.
