Great concept, meh execution. 3/5 stars.

Freezer Burn is the perfect title for this campaign and its one-of-a-kind premise. Similar to Hard Rain, this mod sees the Survivors descending a frozen skyscraper in Canada before climbing back up the way they came when the building catches fire. The transition from cold to hot gives you two unique environments for the price of one in a way that feels compelling and natural. The campaign is challenging and generally easy to navigate, too.

However, the severe lack of polish is a fatal flaw. The level design is boxy and lacking detail. Bot navigation is buggy. Two maps start with 90-second elevator rides. It's needlessly difficult to see anything due to excessive particle effects that don't even look good half the time. The snow chapters are also bathed in unnatural yellow fog that tends to kill the atmosphere.

Overall, this campaign is very memorable, but it doesn't quite feel finished. With such a solid foundation, though, it's dying for a remake.
