Known issues:

- Icons may look disproportional while spectating first person or through a camera. (handled by the game, cannot be fixed)

- Icons may sometimes look disoriented from some locations. (handled by the game, cannot be fixed)

- Molotov and vomitjars cannot be directly targeted using the manual ping key because of their glass materials; however it is possible to ping them by targeting the ground around them.

FAQ/Suggestions:

- Item glows: Originally left out for various reasons. It could be included as an option with the settings file, however I am not planning to work on it because of the amount of time testing it would require.

- Off-screen ping indicators: not possible due to technical limitations.

hi. amazing plugin - something l4d has been missing for years lol. anyway, just a few things:

1. someone already suggested this in the comments, but an option to disable automatic pinging. the feature is actually very neat and works quite well - just a preference thing, really.
2. i'm getting an error in the console "Unsupported response type 5". seems harmless, though, not sure what it's about.
3. i've noticed the 'Look' vocalizer also serves as the ping function, which is really cool and (i think) more intuitive than the dedicated ping keybind. however, there seems to be a 2 second delay when pinging this way. any way to disable that? i'm guessing it's to prevent people from abusing the vocalizer, but most of my friend are (usually) pretty sensible and the option would be nice.
4. is there any way to prevent the ping symbol from staying enlarged when looking at it through sniper/sg550 zoom? i guess similar to how you walk toward a ping and the symbol gets smaller.

This is actually irrelevant to the last update that didn't change anything. I just added debug prints (prefixed with "PingSystem:") when this condition happens. I suspect it was a rare bug with players joining and leaving. It can be fixed if it can be replicated.

I have two suggestion related to this mod:
- Icon is really small and very unnoticeable on far range, size needs to be bigger.
- Add ping sound (Like Apex Legends ping system)

Additionally, sometimes bots ping(especially Laser Sights for l4d1 campaigns) doesn't work properly, I hope it gets fixed too

Icon sizes don't change until very close to player. However pings beyond thick fog found in most maps won't be visible, and there's nothing I can do about it. Can you show a screenshot of distant pings being small?

There already is a ping sound.

I don't think there's anything wrong here unless you can show that the items are not pinged when bots speak while they are looking at the item. It is very possible that bots either don't always speak, or just look at certain angles to not trigger the auto ping.

Those entities and their spawners could not be pinged:
prop_fuel_barrel, weapon_vomitjar, weapon_molotov

Were the vomitjar and molotov moving on the ground? Do both ping systems (auto and manual) not work? Was it a custom map? Does it consistently not work?

I did my research, and sometimes molotov could be pinged sometimes not.
But in general, no matter what map, no matter if it's spawner or dropped item, it mostly depends on if it's manual ping or thru voice wheel. There's a video demonstration:

I see the problem now. They cannot be manually pinged because of their glass material. Glass materials are ignored in manual pings to be able to ping through windows.

I'll leave it like this for now because I think being able to ping through transparent windows is more important than pinging a vomitjar, especially when auto ping is enabled.

Any way to have something pinged if they are highlighted, rather than the crosshair being directly on it? Pinging small items is pretty tough at any sort of distance.

The 'Look' voice command can be used for that (keybind command is "vocalize smartlook"); the downside of this is the unavoidable delay between consecutive uses. Implementing that in manual pinging is not very feasible. I would do it if I could find an efficient way to do it.

I get a lot of requests for custom HUD Icons. Is there a way to have this mod point to the current HUD icon in use (the vanilla game path/icon)? Or is that not doable?
