At the moment, I still have to run around my base to sort a full inv of items out even with the auto sort as it seems to only be effective to any box within 2 maybe 3 tiles of player position

Is it possible to make this mod work by specific item and not catagories? For example I keep my ammo stored separate and this mod mixes them.

Thanks man. Love this mod. Sorting loot is my least favorite things to do in zomboid but oh my god I need it to be organized.
This would help with items that are in the same category but that nevertheless the player still wants to keep in different containers. This could even be used when containers don't have a category filter: "where do I put these nails?" "well, this container near me that already has a bunch of nails should be a safe bet".
This won't replace the need of category filters or the planned item name filter (like in empty containers) but I feel implementing this suggestion would make the mod smarter and reduce the configuring users have to do.
View Assigned Items - I would appreciate the ability to 'view assigned items' when a container has "Advanced View" enabled. This would enable us to quickly view and deselect items that were improperly included within the container. At present, it seems the only way to verify an incorrect item is being added is to remove and then add back the item, then go manage the container and search for and remove the association. "View Assigned Items" would enable us to do that in fewer steps and truly help us manage the container.
View All Containers "Master List" - Enabling us to see the master list of containers "Manage Containers" has been used on would give us the ability to see if we're duplicating an existing container in a different location and ensure our containers are consolidated. A list which shows Container Name, Container Location, and a "Manage Container" button which if clicked would pull up the Manage Container settings for that container would be amazing. Including a "Walk to Container" button would probably be beneficial for some as well.
Walk to Container - It really would be a game changer to enable auto walk to a container and transfer within x tiles. I know this is a big update and has been brought up before however I want to chime in and say I would also greatly appreciate the feature. Our weapons room is currently 21x13, crafting is 17x21, Kitchen is 11x11 and even with this amazing mod it takes a fair bit of time to unload our hauls. By supporting a tiles radius of 5-7 tiles for example it would cut unloading time by more than half which would be pretty significant.
Save/Load Presets - I love this future goal and greatly look forward to this feature! Currently when expanding storage for complex containers, and we use a lot of item-specific containers, it takes a few minutes to setup the newly added container. On a related note I do greatly appreciate containers remembering their container settings when they are re-positioned, gotta have everything in the right place ;)
Thanks again for this awesome mod, can't wait to see what cool features you add next!
2) Reset container assignment (aka - unassign everything)
3) Ability to display custom name of container in loot list (eg, next to "crate" in top right window)
4) Ability to trigger action "set assignments" from list of container from loot list - i have base where one row of containers is behind other one and I can only click on the foreground ones due to isometric view.
5) Advanced view to have ability to include(and potentially exclude) whole category - eg i want to store all melee except hammer(s)
Not sure if 3 and 4 can be done.
For 4th one, there is bit of alternative - key-bind to open "set assignments" for highlighted container
Suggestion 3) from ttr would also be ok, this way I could put a custom name for all boxes, and then I could confirm if they were correctly managed by highlighting the boxes. But a button to manage container from the highlighted box would be an awesome quality of life feature.
Amazing mod.
Where it takes only things that are not sorted in a container.
So that once you start out sorting stuff you can configure your containers and easily extract everything that isn't set to be sorted into the container.
(or if you have a friend who doesn't auto sort everything and just throws it wherever you want you don't have to still spent hours sorting everything...)
I second this. I do however have a few suggestions that might help solve this issue with today's version of the mod, i.e. you can try right now, no update required:
1. Move closer to - and turn your character towards - the container you want to config.
I've noticed that my character's position and facing direction affects which container is selected on LMB when two or more overlap. I assume it behaves similarly to how the game automatically switches containers when you move around. So far this has done it for me. I left click on the desired container, and if an undesired container in front of or behind it is selected instead, i reposition my character and try left clicking again. When the desired container is selected by this action, I right click the same spot on the screen and select Configure Container. This has worked for me every time.
2. You could also try moving so that your character is out-of-range of the undesired container but in-range of the desired container. This might do nothing. Not tested, but an Idea that came to mind.
Lastly: while giving unique names to all config'd containers won't help you select the correct container, it will help identifying which one you DID select, after pressing Configure Container.
Hope this helps.
