to help them and you out, I'll ask you to do the following:
1. enable logging if its not already enabled in the dev console by typing:
3. send me your console.log (and any other ones that look important in the logs folder)
I don't know if it will actually help diagnose the issue but it's worth a shot. if the game has any invisible errors before crashing, they'll probably be there if they happen at all.
Note that I have NOT enabled the rest of my addons, it could be a limit as to how much the game can handle along with the map.
not on my end. i doubt any of these addons are actually responsible.
oh, huh....maybe those 2 addons do affect people with this map under certain circumstances then.
i cant reproduce the issue on my end (i play with these addons all the time, and the map doesnt crash for me...at least, not often, and not immidiately.)
but, since it seems these 2 might potentially cause issues for this map, ill put a warning in the description about it.
I also have around 600 addons in use so it could have been that my addon file is clutterstruck.
very unlikely because thats not actually how it works. most newer addons are stored somewhere in steam's own workshop directory each in seperate subfolders inside of gmod's appid folder. older addons are all stored in garry's mod's addons directory, again all as seperate files. there is not a singular "addon file" that got...clutterstruck, whatever that means.
it is far more likely that there is another addon causing the issue which would be very difficult to determine, especially with 600 addons installed,
but its also likely just these 2 in particular because they both try to access and index in-game content in some way, which likely runs out of memory with maps that have a large amount of content directly packed into the map bsp file itself (and not included as seperate files in the addon.)
have you had the same issue with other maps containing abnormally large amounts of custom content packed into the bsp?
But as for extended spawnmenu, no clue how that can make problems if all it does is alter the spawnmenu. Map retexturiser has caused issues in the past, that one was one I thought of originally.
Yes, there could be another addon that had a problem that I was unaware of, I didn't go plucking out two files, I removed somewhat 200 addons prior when I thought it was that there were too many to cope with along with the map too.
It's no doubt another addon that I have installed that you don't, but it's impossible to find now that the issue is gone, I've removed every addon that creates a script error or creates a problem of some sort.
Not sure what the problem is but it's fixed, I suppose.
Also, it wasn't an immediate crash that I got, map retexturiser crashed the map around 'loading resources' near a third finished. Extended spawnmenu crashes the game right as it's about to launch.
ah, good to know its fixed and all, somewhat anyways. thanks for the clarification. im just doing my best to make infomed guesses at things but sometimes im a long way off... tbh ive had a couple crashes on this map too but they didnt always happen so i wasnt really sure if it was worth a good look at the issue. usually i've crashed when going through doors in the map but nobody else has gotten that far it seems.
