Path to the Cure (my in-game journal)
Dr. Stronghand's Research

**Zombie Virus -
Acquired through scratches and bites. Scratches appear to have an approximately 50 percent chance of transmission while bites appear to have a 99 percent chance of infection. I have not encountered anyone who has been bitten that has survived. I leave 1 percent for the chance that there might be someone who could.

Upon infection, patient will experience nausea, anxiety, severe depression and agitation. These symptoms can also occur for other reasons, making it likely but not a guarantee that one has the infection if they were scratched.

If the body has no wounds, is completely rested and fed and yet still declines in health... they have the infection and it is only a matter of when, not if, they will expire.

**Discovery (Story Stuff only)
During a raid into a military installation, we discovered some research notes regarding the potential for a cure. The data contained has enabled the possibility to create antibodies, completely cure and also test subjects for the infection.

This will have to start with the creation of a Chemical Station.

(Chemical Station is crafted in the crafting menu, under the heart symbol, under "Electronics" and you need level 2 electronics to craft it)

**Chemical Station: Construction of the chemical station itself will require a level two understanding of Electronics.
The materials required to create this station will need to be gathered.

Small Metal Sheet x 6
Scrap Electronics x 10
Electric Wire x 5
Light Bulb
Garbage Bag x 2
Screwdriver
DuctTape x 2
Propane Torch
Welder Mask
One front window (from a vehicle)
One Car Battery

**I've successfully crafted the workstation. It turns out that the device is something you carry on you or in a container. I put it in the back of our ambulance since it's weight is 20.

From there, the others brought items they've collected..

"Chemicals"
"Empty Injectors"
"Test Tubes"

Using 1 chemical, 1 empty injector, and the workstation, I tested myself for the virus. I am 30% through the infection. At 100% I die.

**Now I need to take the Test tubes and collect 50 samples of zombie blood in order to create the antiserum and hopefully save myself.

**After some trial and error, I finally figured out how to successfully collect these samples. You need to have three things to do this.

1. A research journal. (requires a piece of paper and a pen)
2. A test tube. (Take them out of the box)
3. A knife. I used a hunting knife.

Once I had these three things, I was able to take a sample of blood from each zombie. I found that you could even extract a sample from zombies that were mostly decayed.

**Once a sample is extracted, it is fresh. I have not figured out how long before it is no longer fresh, however, I do know that I started collecting my first sample around 14:00 hours and collected the 50th sample around 1700 hours.. and all samples were still fresh. It would probably be wise to refridgerate these samples if you aren't able to acquire all fifty in a single run.

(First Aid Level 7 required to craft the cure. Also done in the Crafting menu under the "Health" section)

**Back to the lab, I took the 50 samples, one empty injector, and the chemical station to process the antibodies to make the cure. After self-injection, my nausea immediately dissipated; however, I am still in pain and injured due to my fractured lower torso. When I awaken, I'll test myself for the virus just to make sure that I am cured.

**I've done it!! The test came back negative! While I don't know if this makes me immune, I do know that there is at least a way to cure the virus. Hopefully this information finds its way into the hands of others who can either mass produce this effect... or at the very least, save you or someone you love from the terrible fate that has befallen everyone else around me.
