So I finally am digging into LWOTC. Was busy with other things and hobbies. But greatly enjoyed the original Long War and Long War 2.

That said, I noticed my soldiers' will stat seemed really low, considering they were supposed to gain an average of 10 Will from the first two promotions (and none after, which is by design). At first I chocked it up to bad Hidden Potential RNG, but after a while I started to wonder if something was pooched.

Took a Shinobi with enough XP to promote to LCPL. Did a set of savescums on his promotion. He went from 23 to 24 will each time, a gain of one point. So I turned off Hidden Potential, which Still only got one point of will. I double checked the INI and it shows 4 Will for Squaddie and LCPL, which at least was part of it (UFOpedia shows 5 for both ranks, so that was misleading me a little).

But out of curiosity I upped the Will gain for LCPL Shinobi to 40. Interestingly, with Hidden Potential disabled, he was only getting 35 Will, despite the ini being changed to grant 40. Seems like something is applying a penalty to the promotion stats.


I don't think this is a mod conflict, since pretty much all the mods I'm running besides LWOTC and dependencies are cosmetic.

Still, figured I'd ask around if anyone else has run into this before I go for the nuclear option and uninstall the game, unsubscribe all addons, delete the remaining config folders, and reinstall it all from scratch.
