I just had a similar event. It was a few days after I added a new pawn to a mining outpost, but I didn't change the materials being mined (steel). I just wanted to see if it sped up the deliveries at all (not that I could tell).
An in-game day or two later, the game hard lagged then posted the double yellow envelopes (abandoned/destroyed).
I reloaded an autosave. I've changed the production. Removed and added a pawn. I'll see if it continues past the time the outpost abandoned itself. I'll update my post to let you all know, but it may be late tomorrow afternoon.
Update:
The "abandoned/destroyed" event didn't happen this time. Around the same time, I did receive a raid at a second outpost. I'm afraid I got distracted with other thing in-game while waiting for the event to happen, so my troubleshooting wasn't very good.
If it happens again, I'll try to be more methodical about it.
2nd Update:
My mining outpost yeeted itself again. It appears to occur because an event trigger (due to the pronounced lag beforehand), but damned if I can tell which event causes it. This time, I'd just finished an extortion raid ("pay us silver or die") and then had a caravan return from a pristine ruin with a load of goods the next day. The outpost was 5-6 days away from delivering another load of 750 steel (total mining of 41). I've been playing with the storyteller/difficulty of Chillax/Community Builder (boreal forest (not ReGrowth) predators are enough of a PITA to deal with).
I'd taken to going to the outpost immediately upon loading the save and changing the mined materials (switching back to steel at the end) just to "make a change" to the outpost, hoping that would prevent the reoccurrance. No such luck. Maybe it takes adding/removing a pawn, but since that's when the problems started happening, I wasn't doing that to "make a change".
It could very well be related to mechanics added by another mod. I've no effective way to narrow the possibilities down though. The event occurs to infrequently and randomly to make any sort of prolonged mod-exclusion testing feasible.
(Wait, maybe it's related to clearing a pristine ruin? I'd only ever cleared one ruin before this play through, but I can't remember if losing the outpost occurred after I cleared the first ruin or not...)
I've rearranged my mod list and tried several different things, but the mining* an outpost is deleted every time a caravan returns from a ruin.
(*Most of the time, it was the mining outpost. Occasionally it would be the town outpost. I only had two outposts in this game.)
Possible workaround:
I had a save file with the caravan at the ruins. Upon loading that save, I told all of my outposts (2: 1 mining, 1 town) to start packing. After the caravan returned to the settlement, I received a raid event at the mining colony instead of the Abandoned/Destroyed notifications.
Upon resolving the raid, I canceled the pack order. If I don't update this post again, assume the outposts did not Abandon/Destroy themselves.
While I have no objective evidence, it really seems like the ruin clean-up process is deleting the outposts. Several times, when performing an Ideology ritual at a settlement (which would normally return the location of a ruin), I'm notified that I would not receive a location because there was already an unexplored ruin on the map (when there wasn't). I'd just assumed this message was a glitch due to deleting a relic quest, but it could very well be related to having an outpost on the map as well.
I'm a couple in-game days away from being able to perform the same ritual again. I'll try "packing" the outposts again before performing the ritual and see if I can't get the location to a ruin.
If it works, I'll let you all know.
Can find many reports but no solution or reply that help out.
Additional notes:
-artillery outpost didn't fire.
-'produce now' button doesn't appear to work, but pawn damage does. Can't tell if 0% food works.
-widespread reporting of this/similar bugs makes me think it might be something with performance optimizer mods/rimpy? tbh this is speculation i dont know much in this field
-apologies for more of the same stuff you've been getting for a while
-will do further testing.
