Frequently Asked Questions
Here is a list of answers to frequently asked questions.

Q. What does this mod do?
A. It changes the Companions quest line by making the enemies of the Companions (the Silver Hand) vampires, vampire bosses and vampires' thralls. Also, some of the Companions are given the ability to change into werewolves during combat, and change back after two minutes.

Q. Does this mod add new quests?
A. No, not yet. For now, it changes the existing quests of the Companions quest line.

Q. Does the mod add new equipment?
A. Yes. New Skyforge Steel weapons were added. All Skyforge Steel weapons may now be changed into Skyforge Vampire Slayer weapons at the Skyforge. Changes were also made to the Wuuthrad, silver weapons and Wolf Armor. (See more information, below.)

Q. Are any other NPCs added?
A. Yes, a few other vampires, vampire bosses, vampires' thralls and creatures are added to some of the quests, to keep things unexpected for those who have done the Companions quests before.

Q. Did you change any existing scripts?
A. No. No changes were made to any of the scripts.

Q. Did you add any new scripts?
A. Yes, scripts were added that give members of the Circle of the Companions the ability to change into werewolves during combat, and change back after two minutes. The scripts prevent the ability during a few quests where this ability would interfere with the quests. A script was also added to change the armor and weapons of NPCs like Farkas, who is scripted to change into Steel armor and use an iron greatsword during the quest "Proving Honor."

Q. Have you tested the mod?
A. Yes, extensive in-game testing was done and will continue to be done, as the mod is updated, to make sure everything works as expected.

Q. Do I need Dawnguard?
A. No, Dawnguard and the other DLCs are not required. However, if you do have Dawnguard installed, the Silver Hand vampires will use the new Dawnguard armor.

Q. What about your other mods? Are any required?
A. No, you no longer have to subscribe to All Races Drop Skulls to use this mod.

Q. I'm already subscribed to both mods. Will I still get vampire skulls from Silver Hand vampires?
A. Yes, the Silver Hand vampires will drop vampire skulls to add to your collection. However, they will now be named Vampire Skull instead of Silver Hand Vampire Skull or Silver Hand Vampire Leader Skull. This was necessary to make the mod not require All Races Drop Skulls. Any Silver Hand Vampire Skull and Silver Hand Vampire Leader Skull you have already collected before the update to version 1.3 will still remain in the game. New skulls collected after the update will be called Vampire Skull.

Q. I don't have All Races Drop Skulls. How do I get it?
A. You may subscribe to it HERE. Please note: You should subscribe to All Races Drop Skulls first, before subscribing to Lycans vs Vampires. Or if you have already subscribed to Lycans vs Vampires, you should--after subscribing to All Races Drop Skulls--follow the instructions in section (4) on the Description tab to change the load order. It's not hard to do.

Q. I subscribed to the mod, but the Silver Hand are still all bandits. What do I do?
A. If you are subscribed to All Races Drop Skulls, or another mod that changes the Silver Hand, bandit or vampire NPCs, make sure Lycans vs Vampires is still at the bottom of the list of mods, so that it loads last. (See section (4) on the Description tab for easy instructions on changing the load order.)

Q. Which Silver Hand are now vampires?
A. Most Silver Hand bosses and nearly all Silver Hand who use one-handed weapons.

Q. Which Silver Hand are now thralls?
A. Most Silver Hand who use two-handed weapons or bows.

Q. What changes are made to the Wuuthrad?
A. It now does 25% extra damage to vampires and other undead, such as dragon priests, draugr, draugr death lords, skeletons, ghosts, wisps, wisp mothers and ice wraiths.

Q. Why change the Wuuthrad?
A. It makes sense that the Silver Hand vampires would want to steal shards of a weapon that would be a threat to vampires and other undead. But if you want the original Wuuthrad, an update to this mod will let you change it back to its original enchantment at the Skyforge.

Q. What changes were made to the silver weapons?
A. The silver swords and silver great swords now do 25 additional damage to werewolves, and other beasts, such as wolves, ice wolves, dogs, bears, snow bears, sabre cats, snowy sabre cats, trolls and frost trolls. The weapons do the same damage as steel weapons to non-undead NPCs and creatures, and they may be improved at a grinding wheel with a silver ingot.

Q. Why do the silver weapons no longer do extra damage to undead?
A. It makes sense that vampires would not need a weapon that does extra damage to themselves and to draugr, who are their allies.

Q. What new Skyforge Steel weapons were added?
A. There is now a Skyforge Steel bow, mace, war hammer and Skyforge Steel arrows. Like the other Skyforge weapons, these all do more damage than the steel weapons. The weapons do more damage than steel weapons, and all accept for the arrows may be improved at a grinding wheel with a steel ingot.

Q. What are the Skyforge Vampire Slayer weapons?
A. They are Skyforge Steel weapons that have the same enchantment as the Wuuthrad.

Q. How do I get the Skyforge Vampire Slayer weapons?
A. You create them at the Skyforge, using any Skyforge Steel weapons, a steel ingot and a Glenmoril Witch head. There are a limited number of Glenmoril Witch heads you may obtain (and you need to use one to complete the Companions questline), so you choose what Skyforge Steel weapon you want to transform carefully!

Q. What changes were made to the Companions Armor?
A. The Wolf Armor, which is available after the quest "Proving Honor" now has the armor value of steel plate armor, instead of that of steel armor. The weight is still the same as steel armor. The price is now more than steel armor, but it is still less expensive than steel plate armor. The result is armor that provides just as much protection as steel plate, but is lighter and less expensive. It's a decent real perk for low-level players joining the Companions!

Q. What armor and weapons where changed for the NPCs?
A. Farkas' armor is changed from steel armor to Wolf Armor. His brother Vilkas' weapons is changed from a Skyforge Steel greatsword to a Skyforge Steel battleaxe, which makes him easier to tell apart from his brother, since they are twins and now wearing the same armor. Aela the Huntress' Draugr Armor is changed from heavy to light, since she is adept at sneaking and the armor is chain mail, like the light armor worn by hold guards. Aela's bow is changed from a hunting bow to the new Skyforge Steel bow.

Q. Will the quests be too easy for high-level characters?
A. No, I don't believe so, since all of the Silver Hand are leveled vampires, leveled vampire bosses and leveled thralls. However, if you start the quests with a high-level character and find it too easy, you may always adjust the difficulty level in Skyrim game settings.

Q. Will the quests be too hard if I have a low-level character?
A. No, because the vampires and thralls are leveled, so they will not be as powerful if your character is a lower level. Where the quests prove to be too difficult for a low-level character, I reduced difficulty level of some NPCs, which is a simple option in the Creation Kit. For example, after making the adjustments, I was able to play all the way through the quest "Proving Honor" with a level 5 fighter, and on the Adept difficulty level, and I only died once. However, if you find the quests too difficult, you may always adjust the difficulty level in the Skyrim game settings.

Q. Do you have any tips for surviving the quests?
A. Stay close to Farkas or Aela so you have help when ambushed. Kill vampires before they raise fallen thralls and draugrs as zombies or do much damage with their absorb health spells. Watch for vampires to sometimes turn invisible, or use powerful destruction magic at higher levels. Use cure disease potions to remove the reduced-health effect of vampirism, if you contract the disease. Level up as a way to restore all health, stamina or magicka during combat.

Q. Will you make a Dawnguard version?
A. I might make a Dawnguard edition of this mod, or make a sequel to the mod use the new NPCs and creatures of Dawnguard. Let me know if you want me to do either.

Q. What do I do if I have other questions?
A. Just ask!

Is this mod compatible with Real Companions. It is an overhaul of the companions that changes their skills and inventory, allowing them to wear the proper wolf armor, including the recruits, and gives them glowing werewolf eyes. However, it does not allow them to transform in combat, something I've always wanted them to do.

Csgo: Lycans vs. Vampires (Part 2) will be released after Halloween. It will be made for vampire players. The Dark Brotherhood will be a vampire cult, with all but one being a vampire. The player will be given contracts to assassinate people known to be werewolves. If you don't kill the targets after one or two hits, they will transform into werewolves and attack, or run away. If they run, you'll have to hunt them. If they attack, you'll have new silver weapons to take them down. There will also be more random encounters with werewolves while traveling through Skyrim. Also thinking of other things to add.
