Lantern Unable to Toggle on Ground
Issue: Lantern unable to be toggled back on or off after gas lantern update. Picking it up, replacing batteries does not resolve this issue. Spawning a new Lantern allegedly fixed this issue.

I went ahead and loaded up a new single player save with the previous version of the mod (Electric Lantern Only) and placed a new Lantern on the ground with the light on. I then saved, closed the game and updated the mod to the latest version (Electric & Gas Lantern). I loaded up the previous save and attempted to cycle the Lantern from On to Off. I debugged the ModData and the logic determining the state of the Lantern and nothing seemed amiss. The Lantern state was "on" onLoad which is as expected. I was able to turn it off and on. I picked it up and placed it again, and was still able to cycle the state properly. I tried turning the Electric Lantern on, moving out of the chunk range to despawn it and returned back. Everything still functioned as intended. If you run into an issue with a Lantern stuck and unable to toggle on / off please write up a in-depth description of when this happens and which state the Lantern was in before and after the issue arises. The more details the better I can try to reproduce and fix this issue. As is, I was unable to find any issue with upgrading to the latest version from the previous version. Apologies to those who've encountered this issue and the inconvenience it has caused. I'm committed to fixing bugs and making sure everyone's experience with this mod is as smooth and bug free as possible.

In multiplayer co-op host I've never been able to get lanterns placed on the ground to turn on. They will work in hand or on belt, but they don't light up when placed anywhere.

@Wintermote This bug seems to be happening to select few without any major identify as to why. I'm leaning towards mod data desync / corruption and possible mod incompatibility with another. I plan to take a look at the mod data I have setup and try to make it non-destructive if anything does mess with it, however that's gonna take time and I'll most likely get around to it when I have to remake the mod for the upcoming update. Apologies for the inconvenience. As for suggestions to try and fix it possibly an admin could try and reset the lantern mod data.

Just had this happen for me playing on a server with friends, Electric lantern was on the ground and had full functionality. Once the battery died, right clicked and selected the option to insert battery. Lantern was place back on ground after and option to turn on was missing. From here the behavior seems to be stuck on, not when on the ground but when using in Primary or Secondary slots. Turn off the lantern before unequipped and reequipping will have the lantern be on. Taking out the battery and equipping it has it off then adding the battery back in, the lantern is back on without any prompt.

Subscribed, loaded it into my mp server and the lanterns dont turn on when placed on the ground. crazy how this is the only mod to add a not generator light to the game.

I have tried using the battery and gas powered lamps, both work fine in hand and on the belt but will not work when placed town to be toggled. If i select turn on, i hear a click but nothing happens at all, and the prompt still is labelled as 'turn on' meaning the state of the lantern never changes? I noticed though that lamps converted into being battery powered work how I wish the lanterns did on the floor.

I've also posted this in the workshop comments, but I've been investigating the issue where lanterns won't light up when placed on the ground. In my case, it seems that the cause is a MOD called "Sapphire's Heaters" which adds several heaters. This MOD had been previously reported for bugs in the forums, but its conflict with lanterns was unexpected. I hope this discovery proves helpful to everyone.
@Puff556 I’m so happy I could kiss you. For a year now I’ve been trying to use @Slooth excellent mod, this specific feature should’ve been added in the vanilla game but for whatever reason the devs never thought of it. So big thanks to Slooth, but anyways yes! Your solution worked! After a year I finally got this mod to work! Sapphires heaters was the culprit and i can’t believe I wasn’t smart enough to solve it big thanks!

@Slooth I can confirm that sapph's heaters mod is causing the lanterns unable to toggle on ground, which is really sad cuz both are useful mods, any chance we got a fix asap?

Unfortunately, I do not use Sapph’s Heaters and this issue is happening for me in my MP game, as well. Unsure if it’s a mod conflict or just that it’s multiplayer.

It makes me sad because the lanterns working as placeable lights is most of the reason I downloaded this. 😭

It's definitely Sapph's Heaters, as removing the heater mod fixes the issue with the lanterns. However, that does rule out another conflicting mod, for those with the same issue. However, it might also depend on load order, Saphs might be taking priority over lanterns, by loading last, and if you change the load order, then lanterns might break Sapphs, or any other mod that uses the same script, as the context menu scripts are a copy and paste of each other.
