A couple minor UI issues
I don't know if something is broken or what, but on my end the button for the stats menu is inside the other UI elements and is hard to see.

The buff/debuff icons also overlap other UI elements which looks kinda awkward, it can be hard sometimes to tell exactly what a buff/debuff is at a glance without mousing over it.

I get a feeling that this isn't intentional, and if it is then the design choice seems questionable to me.

Same issue here, most of the UI has placement issues like that, though I assumed it was caused by tModLoader.
Buttons overlapping other buttons, the skill tree being off to the side, all of the stat increase buttons being hard to click, yeah.

Another thing I remembered is if I moused over the stat increase buttons while the menu was closed I would still hear the mouseover sound. I'm not sure if I could actually click them while the menu was closed, but I got the impression that I could if I wasn't careful which didn't feel great.

After checking, I see that the glitch with my UI was caused by the mod not scaling properly when using a UI scale that's anything but 100%.

EDIT: also yeah, I can mouse over where the stat increase buttons are, even when the menu is closed.

Pretty sure my UI scale has always been 100%, so even then the UI has issues.

my issue is that the mod seems to completely remove the UI though?

The removal of the ui can be solved in the main menu by going to the mod configuration , in the anrpgmod display config is an option saying hide old bar, if you toggle that off that should solve the missing UI.
