Suggestions and Ideas
Please post suggestions and ideas for future changes and content here.

Current list of planned landforms, not necessarily in that specific order:
  • Hollow mountain (mountain with a large round cave chamber in the middle)
  • Mountain pass (almost fully split map with mountain range in the middle)
  • Underground river (huge cave with river flowing through)
  • Underground lake (large cave chamber with a deep lake)
  • Shattered plateau (area full of branching rifts/canyons)
  • Water canyons (branching rifts/canyons partially filled with water)

I'd love to see a variant that is essentially just a giant cave system with only a tiny amount of the map leading to the outside world. Currently the cave generation is rather minimal, and when playing a tunnler colony I've never been able to get into the sense I'm living in a complex natural cavern.

@Apoplectic Alopex I really like that idea, currently I don't have any patches for the vanilla cave generation implemented, but I will try to add it in a future version!

Is it possible to add a search feature to the systems, so players like me can find a desired landform instead of clicking around?

Good idea, I might add a feature like that in the future, but probably not directly to this mod, but maybe as an addon/patch for Prepare Landing.

Wait, would it be possible to have a mostly mountain map without caves? Build your perfect mountain bunker base, no caves to get in the way! (People like me enjoy having perfect smoothed walls) Ancient dangers will probs get in the way regardless.

Or what about a mostly caveless full mountain area with a crater in the middle? Like a rift mixed with crater without caves. Ya know what I mean? Like the end of a rift, one opening.

If you want rifts or craters to generate without caves:
- Go to the mod's settings and enable config override
- Choose Rift/Crater as landform to edit
- Disable the checkbox "Allow Caves"

Now Rifts/Craters will (only) spawn on world tiles without caves :)
would it be possible to add actual river forks to tiles that are displayed as such on the world map? map designer somehow managed to do that, i think it would be an addition that makes the world feel a lot more unique

Currently this mod does not have any patches for vanilla river generator, but I can try to add something like that in a future version.

just from the top of my head, maybe add a landform made from random numbers / alphabet letters?
each letter/number should be big enough to stand on it's own for starting the game, but everything but the letters/numbers is rock or water...
maybe you can use the world seed as the string for that?
very cool mod, want to see it being known and growing...

I would like to see 'Biome Borders', such as a map that is fertile plains on one half, and desert on the other.

Also a "rocky mesa" where there is an 'island' of stoney ground surrounded by desert, with maybe a few patches of soil and a spot of water - as a sort of "Dune" settlement
Not sure if this has been suggested before, but it would be amazing if you (or anyone) could make a compatibility patch of this and Biomes! Islands, so that Biomes! sea creatures and sea vegetation could spawn on coastal landforms in this mod. Would make them feel 100x more alive and awesome, since water in base Rimworld is often just empty of pawns and creatures.

@TheSquirrelofHuscurl there is not really any good way to do that, because the two mods work very differently from each other. "Biomes! Islands" adds new biomes that contain their animals and plants, but Geological Landforms does not contain any biomes, it only adds an extra layer on how all biomes can generate. So to add the plants and animals from "Biomes! Islands" to specific landforms, you would have to somehow add them to all biomes via patching, but then also make sure they only actually spawn when there is the correct landform. That would get pretty messy and probably cause many incompatibilities with other mods. Definitely never gonna do that as part of the main mod, but if someone else wants to make an add-on mod, go for it.

More compatability with Map Designer would be nice. IE, when map designer has beaches set to be made of rich soil instead of sand, northeastern beaches from Geological are also made of rich soil. minor things like that would be cool.

Hot Springs
- Lots of Geysers
- Lots of Mud
- Lots of Ponds
- Not much dry land to actually build on.
