Me and my friend installed this mod mid campaign hoping to make use of some of our bot's skills. We couldn't back up our save, however, due to it being improperly stored in a location we couldn't find that was NOT its regular location, so we went ahead anyways.
Not knowing that it would delete all of our bots.
So we weren't happy but it's technically our fault. That's fair, but due warning that this would happen would have prevented us from even trying without a backup. We spawned in new bots, taking about 30 minutes to do so, got them all up to speed and roughly where they should be talent wise.
And then we reached outpost and they were deleted again. Me and my friend quit it for the night, and we come back today after having uninstalled the mod. We load in, intending to spawn our bots again. *Our* characters have now been deleted.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fantastic man. I get that its not meant to be used mid campaign, but we weren't told that before we tried. We were given a vague warning about backups, one that most mods would give anyways really, one which matters a lot but which feels empty given how often it is said, and we paid the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ price without knowing the cost ahead of time.
I'm just mad and depressed after this, and now I'm writing out all the words in my head to make me feel better really. A simple warning that our bots would be deleted would have prevented all of this because then we wouldn't even try without that backup. If you've taken the time to read this, mod developer, please take the time to add the warning now. You're already on the steam page, after all.

I'm sorry you experienced that, That is obviously not meant to happen. In late October a feature was introduced into the mod that would allow it to be added mid-campaign (due to popular demand), And during testing importing bots and players from an ongoing campaign appeared to work fine.

Disabling the mod mid-campaign is a different challenge all together...

However there were some issues and edge-cases that could result in the loss of characters (mostly the bots) if you attempted to import and then left directly to the lobby without switching maps first (Bots and players are saved on map change), but i thought i had successfully eliminated them, but that might've been in patches that were released after this post was made

There is a thread discussing adding the mod to an ongoing campaign, but yeah; I'll redirect people to it from the front page so this hopefully doesn't happen again
