How to Contribute: A guide of sorts, I guess
So you've decided you got the enormous fortitude it takes to contribute to this project! Great! I like your enthusiasm!

To start off, we need to figure out which provinces are in need of a name (assuming you’re updating and not making an entirely new translation).

The steps are relatively simple:

1. Enter the game (with the mod enabled, of course).

2. Select a country with the culture you wish to work on, or make your own country in the designer.

3. Open the console. Don’t know how? Check this linky; https://eu4cheats.com/console-help

4. Type in 'event NewWorldDebug.AnnexTheWorld' in the console window.

5. Select the continent you wish to start in. The Americas are the primary focus of the mod, but if you got Oceanic or African province names, you can go there.

6. Once the game is responsive again (could take a few minutes if you’re on a laptop), type in ‘debug_mode’ in the console. This will let you see province IDs, a necessary step in the guide.

7. Find a province that’s not translated.

8. Check it’s ID by hovering your mouse over the province on the map.

9. In a text file, type in ‘ID = “Province Name”.

10. As a reference, these are British entries;

939 = "Paducah"
940 = "Louisville"
941 = "Harrodstown"
942 = "Sackville"
943 = "Fort Wayne"
944 = "Annarbour"
945 = "Mackinac"
946 = "Sandusky"
947 = "Cleveland"
948 = "Cambridgeshire"
949 = "Blue Ridge"

Each entry should be on its own line.

Finally, when you’re satisfied, save the file, upload it, and send me a link. This can either be done through Github, or in a steam discussion thread :)

Hey dude I have like 3/4 of Canada and the Caribbean done for both Gaelic languages would you prefer I upload as I finish sections or send everything once i finish the whole new world (which will be a while even at this pace)

Up to you really, although I'd prefer to have whole colonial regions and not halves, but that's just from an immersive standpoint :)

The goal is to have the new world covered, but if you need to split it up into pieces to make it manageable, you do you ;)

cool I'll be sure to do full colonial regions before I send anything, ill keep you posted! Found a really easy way of doing it with excel. I'll update you this weekend with how far I've gotten. End of month is very slow at work lol.
I'm working on colony names in Occitan, Gascon, Catalan, and Aragonese for BT: Occitan Renaissance. Obviously the province IDs will be different, but you're welcome to use what I come up with if I can borrow from your names (Catalan, French, Castilian) to craft my own in the languages I mentioned before.

I don't think a little cooperation would hurt :)

I'd just like to put it out there, however, that I don't feel like I "possess" the rights to any names in this mod.
Even the original new World Colony Names was mostly a community effort, and I took over the stewardship without consulting Cwrwi, so I have even less rights.

If there's anyone you should consult, it's the original translators.
My opinion on the matter, however, is that you should go for it.
Province name 871 for French is incorrect. "Saint Rose" should be feminine like the Spanish, and French hagionyms in toponymy usually have a hyphen: "Sainte-Rose".

"Santa Ròsa" in Occitan; "Senta Ròsa" in Gascon.

I'll take your word for it :) The French 871 has been changed, but theres no Occitan or Gascon translation in the mod yet.

Hey Dude do you want a copy of my spreadsheet so you only have to write each name once? It may save you some time, add me as a friend and I can send it to you. Also lists all provinces by number and stuff

Great Plains, Canada, Caribbean, Great lakes, Hudson bay, North East all done in both Gaelic languages once i finish Cascadia, Cali, Mississippi, South east and Texas/Rio Grande regions I will probably send the first round of files before starting on South America which will require a bit more creativity without many historical Celtic settlement areas. TBH I'd be doing this for me anyway so it's nice ill have a place to share it with others

I've updated the existing English and French names in the Canada region to reflect real and historical place names better. Would you rather I send it as a spreadsheet or as a text file?

Couldn't get github to work properly, should still be formatted as a text file. I'll see if there's anything else I can contribute to here, was a big fan of this mod.
