Troubleshooting
The basics - "My button doesn't even appear"

1. Did you just start a new campaign? This mod is intentionally disabled during tutorial battles. If you finish the tutorial battles (or disable them in your settings), subsequent battles within the campaign should have the mod available. In the meantime you can test it in a custom battle vs AI.

2. Check that you subscribed to this mod and have the latest version. That tells Steam you want to download it and keep it up to date. If the download was corrupted somehow, it can be helpful to exit the game, unsubscribe from this mod, verify that this mod is not in your launcher's mod list, exit again, then subscribe to this mod again to get the latest file (and remember to re-enable the mod in your launcher).

3. Check that you have it enabled in your mod manager. Double-check this especially right after the game updates, since the game launcher usually disables all mods after the game updates.

The "gotchas"

4. Are you trying to play this in multiplayer? AI General only works in some situations. See the multiplayer discussion.

5. After an update, some rare Steam issues might also be fixed by restarting your computer.

6. Does the button work correctly but your keyboard shortcuts aren't working? If so, check your keyboard shortcuts. Some people occasionally report game updates messing with their keyboard shortcuts. Check your settings for "Save Camera Bookmark 1" through 5 (and if you use MCT, check the hotkey settings in MCT).

Other possibilities

7. This mod should be compatible with most other well-written mods, but if you've gotten to this point and it's still not working for you, disable all other mods except this one and then play a quick custom battle. If this mod works, then there was an incompatibility with another mod. If you're able to narrow down which mod was incompatible, I'd love to hear about it so that I can either list the incompatibility or work with the other mod's author to try to fix it.

8. Cataph suggests the following (adapted from additional troubleshooting steps[tw-modding.com]):
  • If you used any movie packfile (including from before the workshop was available), delete it.
  • If you added a -dx11 override or any other override to the Steam properties of this game, remove it (game>properties>launch options in the lower right must be empty).
  • Don't launch the game from the taskbar or from the exe, as it won't load mods; use the Play button or steam shortcut, or even RPFM's launch.
  • Go to %appdata%\The Creative Assembly\Launcher and delete moddata.dat. In case the launcher got stuck.
  • Data may get corrupted. Unsubscribe, and wait for the mod to be removed. If it needs to be manually removed, go to steamapps\workshop\content\1142710\xyz where xyz is the mod id on its url. Then redownload and wait.
  • Delete any user script you may have tried using.
  • Verify game cache.

9. For modders and beta testers of any mod: Did your recently remove any .pack file from your data folder for a mod that you still have enabled in your mod manager (perhaps because you own it or are also subscribed to that mod on Steam)? This seems to confuse the launcher and can cause the game to crash on launch. To fix this, (1) use the launcher to deactivate the mod that you removed from your data folder. (2) Start the game, get to the main menu, and then exit. (3) You can then re-enable the mod if you wish to use it again.

10. If you are still having trouble after trying all of the above, please let us know here or consider filing a bug report with more information.
