Cant unlock a secondary Profession.
So started down the Eng profession, then after rank 4 decided to do Combat, to unlock some weapons, When i switched over the pda prompted the quest but it stays on Unlock:Check.
when i try to go into the skill to unlock either vehicle combat or personal combat, it does not allow me.

i attempted to do this with medical, exploration, and it give me the same result. am i missing anything? do i need to be higher rank in my first profession in order to obtain a second or third profession? im playing in single player.

I am also in the same situation and came here to check for answers. I assumed once I got to rank 3 I would be able to pick up a second profession or gain more points, as per the guide, but I am also stuck on Check: Unlock. Any help appreciated.

I thought you had to complete rank 5 to unlock the next spec.

If I remember correctly you can also complete the advanced training quest to unlock an additional spec.

If the unlock check isn't passed it means that the spec isn't unlocked yet.

Correct, rank 3 in your first class unlocks the advanced training. Finishing advanced training will allow you to pick another class or the 500 UP. This mission can only be completed once, even though each class at rank 3 says the advanced training is available. When you reach rank 5 in each class, you can pick another class or the 500 UP. So you can daisy chain the classes to unlock all classes, then when the 4th class is rank 5 pick the 500 UP. Between the classes and the advanced training you can pick 500 UP twice, for 1000 UP total. There is no reason not to pick up every class, you can only get 1000 UP regardless.

Right now, this is correct. However, eventually I will be adding a "Trainer" that will be available in the "Mid-Game" (Chapter 2) area that can unlock Specializations for you for 10,000,000 credits each. This way, it benefits players who stick with one specialization throughout the entire "Early Game" (Chapter 1), That way, hardcore players can get 500 UP each time it would otherwise let you select a new specialization, gaining a total of 4500 UP (500 for Advanced Training, 500 for each Rank 5, and 500 for each Rank 10).

Sweet it took a little but i got all the help i needed that makes things a bit clear. Get to Rank 5 ENG then.

I'm still stuck in Rank 5 Engineering. I unlocked Exploration and the tech tree is open, but the missions are stuck on Unlock Check. I can't open the Advanced Training either - it's stuck on Open PDA. I tried the console command 'pda rd' and the console said my PDA was refreshed, but nothing has changed and I'm still stuck.
Please tell me how to get unstuck. I'm loving this mod, but am in a holding pattern . . .

Never mind. The missions are not stuck any longer. I guess I held my mouth just right . . .
