CV Salvage or SV Warp locations?
Where are you supposed to find salvageable CVs at? There are 0 CVs at all on my starting planet, 0 on the moon, and the only ones in orbit are all Space Junk well beyond recoverable.

Given that CV luck, I decided to look for a warp SV to get to the other starting system. Thus far I have been to 2 different Polaris and an ISI junk field in orbit, as well as investigating the majority of the junk SVs on planet but no T3 extenders or a warp drive anywhere to be found.

Is it time to scrap this game and start again with hopefully better RNG luck or am I missing some piece of info for where to find them?

Any insight is appreciated.

There's never salvageable CVs in the starter locations. Most(if not all) other solar systems will have plenty.

Closest you'll get to salvageable CVs in the starter planets and their orbits are the crashed shuttles scattered about, though they are just a tiny shell with no tech at all.
Modifying those abit and salvaging thrusters and anything else you need from crashed capital vessels on the starter planet is also a viable option to get started with a basic CV

Thanks for the info about the CVs, that would certainly explain why I haven't found any. Is the same true for the sv warp aspect too? Are they build only?

You'll need to craft the SV Warp Drive and T3 extenders yourself I believe. Engineering is useful for this with in-system warp drive and CPU extenders, or you can opt for exploration which provides much better warp drives and CPU compressors which can reduce CPU draw on your SV by 5000.
Though you can find T4 extenders if you're lucky, in certain crashed SVs(it is named, not just "junk small vessel") or in junk storages.

I seem to remember finding a SV warp drive a good while back but don't take my word for it. So it MIGHT be possible to salvage but probably not something you can find on the starter planet.

Thank you for confirming that. I was getting rather frustrated at my lack of decent SV salvage, especially following my failed CV hunt. Now I can put looking for one to the back burner at least.

It is a bit vexing if building is my only option in a mod designed around salvaging though. I would have expected the items to be purchasable even if exorbitant within these starter systems.

one thing to note is if you start exploration there is an item you can craft that is a warp capable sv and that should help you get to and from the planets in you system to work up the stuff to get a cv going

I found a great CV in Zirax space

early versions there were... just saying ... the shuttle wrecks work fine though for a starter :)
