Better Planet Automation

Configurable options
Capital planet production focus
Better Planet Automation by default uses your capital planet as a generic backup option for resources that do not have an available specialized planet to build production on. You can set it to instead be treated as specialized for the resource(s) of your choice.

Default setting: No resource focus.

Automatic scrapping
Better Planet Automation will normally scrap buildings and districts that are not useful, or would be better located elsewhere. For details, see Resource suitability calculation and automatic scrapping.

Default setting: Enabled.

See also: Notification settings section.

Prioritize capital buildings

Better Planet Automation will normally attempt to fully specialize planets where possible, developing production of each resource only on planets with the appropriate designations if any exist. If this setting is enabled, development of resource production will be forced to always go on planets that have the lowest level capital building in your empire, to rapidly develop those planets to the point where they can upgrade it. Automation will still choose the most suitable of those planets for the specific resource, but will ignore any that already have a higher level upgraded capital. Districts and buildings built because of this that do not match their planet's designation will eventually be scrapped automatically as long as automatic scrapping is enabled.

Default setting: Disabled.

Automate building Clone Vats

Option shown only when you have Engineered Evolution. If enabled, Better Planet Automation will build Clone Vats on as many planets as your food income can support.

Default setting: Enabled.

Automate building Robot Assembly Plants

Option shown only for non-gestalt empires that have not outlawed robotic workers. If enabled, Better Planet Automation will build Robot Assembly Plants on every planet. Note: If Clone Vats are also available and enabled, Better Planet Automation will plan to build Clone Vats instead, and will eventually replace any already built Robot Assembly Plants with Clone Vats.

Default setting: Enabled.

Automate building Gene Clinics

Option shown only for non-gestalt empires. If enabled, Better Planet Automation will build and upgrade Gene Clinics on every planet.

Default setting: Disabled.

Automate building Noble Estates

Option shown only for empires with Aristocratic Elite civic. If enabled, Better Planet Automation will build Noble Estates on every planet.

Default setting: Disabled.

Automate building Psi Corps

Option shown only for empires with Mind Over Matter or Teachers of the Shroud. If enabled, Better Planet Automation will build Psi Corps on every planet.

Default setting: Enabled.

Automate building Slave Processing Facility

Option shown only for non-gestalt empires that allow slavery. If enabled, Better Planet Automation will build Slave Processing Facility on planets that have 3 or more slave pops.

Default setting: Enabled.

Automate building Posthumous Employment Center

Option shown only for empires with Permanent Employment civic. If enabled, Better Planet Automation will build Posthumous Employment Center on every planet.

Default setting: Enabled.

Automate building Hydroponics Farms

If enabled, Better Planet Automation will build Hydroponics Farms when you need more food production and your best farming worlds have no free farming district slots.

Default setting: Disabled.

Automate using Distribute Luxury Goods

Option shown only for non-gestalt empires. If enabled, Better Planet Automation will automatically activate the Distribute Luxury Goods planetary decision whenever your stockpile exceeds either 40k or 100 times the decision's cost.

Default setting: Disabled.

Notifications settings

Notify when a planet begins building something Better Planet Automation did not select

I am not yet certain if there are no hard coded automation behaviors that I haven't worked around. This option is to notify if Stellaris automates building something different from what Better Planet Automation's scripts select. It will also notify if you manually begin building something on an automated planet.

Default setting: Disabled.

Notify when Better Planet Automation's selection does not begin construction

I am not yet certain if there are no hard coded automation restrictions that I haven't worked around, and this option will notify if any such restriction interferes. More commonly, however, it will simply be notifying you that your automation stockpile is insufficient, because scripts cannot check how much is in your automation stockpiles to tell the difference. This may still be useful in that situation if you might want to consider building it anyway with non-automation resources.

Default setting: Disabled.

Notify when Better Planet Automation chooses a designation for a planet.

Better Planet Automation prioritizes developing established colonies that are already specialized for a resource first. When the planets specialized for a particular resource are insufficient, and a colony not yet specialized is available, it will set the new colony's designation for the resource. The mod also periodically checks for whether swapping two planets would improve the average of how well suited each planet is to the resource it is specialized for, if any, and does any such swaps it finds. For such swaps, the mod tracks what it is planning for, but delays actually changing the designation until the planet is about halfway through changing to the new resource.

This notification setting will keep you informed of the designation choices Better Planet Automation makes, both for new colonies and for optimizing existing colonies.

Default setting: Enabled.

Ask to confirm before automatically scrapping a structure

If this setting is enabled, Better Planet Automation will pop up a confirmation dialog before scrapping any building or district, listing which structure it selected to scrap and where, and giving options to accept or refuse.

Default setting: Enabled.

Notify when scrapping a structure

This option notifies you each time Better Planet Automation scraps a district or building.

Default setting: Enabled.

Notify when a planet on manual development finishes its build queue

This notification is to draw your attention when a planet you have excluded from automation has finished what it was doing and might need new build orders.

Default setting: Enabled.

Notify when Better Planet Automation selects something to build

This notification is to keep you informed about what Better Planet Automation is doing. Each time the mod selects something to build, it will notify you of the specific district or building it selected and the planet it selected to build it on. I expect many players to begin with it on to observe the behavior of this mod they are not yet familiar with enough to fully trust, and eventually turn it off as a distracting nuisance that they no longer feel any need to pay attention to.

Default setting: Enabled.

Notify when a planet managed by Better Planet Automation finishes its build queue

This notification exists in case someone wants it. Normally, Better Planet Automation will take care of picking what to build next, and when.

Default setting: Disabled.
