Becoming a Demon
Can you become a demon as an adult? No I don't mean the way that you had demonic heritage but more in a way that you use magic to turn yourself into one.

I think it would be sick to do so to try and become immortal not to mention it would be an alternative to doing the immortality project

There are several ways to achieve immortality. Yes, you can become a demon, although it takes determination and some luck.
One of the special projects is Ascendancy, completing it will turn you into a demon. But the project must have the initial conditions met and be drawn from a pool of available projects, so most mages are unlikely to turn into demons ;p

I'm not a big fan of playing a demon, because demons are powerful and unbalanced (they are mainly designed as opponents for the player). But I understand that playing a demon can be the realisation of some fantasy, and that's also what this mod is about. I sometimes want to play something that is OP as well ;)

I have a policy to give the opportunity to acquire every trait that exists in the game. It's just that when I think the trait is OP, I try to make it difficult. In the future, another one or more special projects will probably come along, and drawing Ascendancy will be even less likely.

There used to be more ways to play the demon, but over time I reduced them - now only Abaddon and Ascendancy seem to remain. I should do something with Abaddon too. The chance of drawing him is not great, but summoning demons is much faster than doing magical research.

Wait who is abaddon? Can I summon him from the weaker devils?

It is a demon that can be randomly summoned. A demon-child that you can adopt, make an heir and play as him in the next generation. This is the easiest way to play a demon. Admittedly, you'll encounter some unpleasant events along the way, but it's still a low price to pay for immortality.

I think there should be a way to start as a demon using the CC, or game rule (like there is for source's). I understand that it's not balanced.. But, I use this mod in combination with some other fantasy themed mods (succubii, etc) and for RP reasons, I wish it was a bit easier to acquire.

@Bosch
I've been thinking the same thing recently. It is possible that such an option will appear in a future game rule (although that will be OP ;) )

Hey few questions about becoming a demon.

1. Bit of a noob question but i know you said it was a special project but what is a special project and how does one go about triggering the one to become a demon?

2. Can both genders become a demon in this mod or only one?

You can develop Special Projects while doing magical research - as long as you have an unlocked project. If not, other magical research (mainly writing elaborations) can unlock such a project. Magical Research, on the other hand, can be conducted by a mage with scholar trait or a mage with 25+ secret knowledge. Unlocking projects is random, so it can take several decades/generations before you hit ascendancy. You can find more information about special projects here:

Ascendancy project makes you a minor demon. Is there a way to progress from minor demon to major demon?

@sbudy
Sure, that's what the demonic lifestyle is for ;p
