Vanilla Psycasts Expanded
Starting tree/focus?
What dictates the free skill tree and focus that the psycaster starts with? I added the mod to an existing save and it works great, but each of my three dudes have the artistic focus and the technomancer tree. Does each psycaster pawn start with a random selection, is it based on religion, etc.

Spacer, aka non-tribal/non-imperial Background = Artistic Focus Type

Tribal Background = Nature Focus Type / Wildspeaker Class choice

Royalty Rank = Dignitary Focus Type

Imperial Background = Archotechnist Class choice

Starting Class/Ability

Completely random from what I've seen, I've had pawns get Ice Spike while unlocking Technomancer or getting Mend while unlocking Nightstalker as well as getting Flame Ball while unlocking Conflagrator

If there was anything leading towards it, maybe passions or skill level but I doubt it, definitely not religion though

Thanks, I figured it was something like that. Neat that background figures into it.

anyone know what qualifies as an "imperial background" for the archotechnist tree? backstories indicate whether tribal focus is unlocked but its hard to tell what does and doesn't count to allow access to the archotechnist tree.

It's actually completely random.

Imperial background means any background that can generate on imperials.

I love how you think that's an answer the question in anyway/shape/form. i have tried a few different starts as well as backgrounds its never unlocked. As far as I'm concerned its just a stupid teaser that's not a part of the game. The only way i know of to unlock it, is to turn on dev mode and then click the unlock button manually for the desired pawn.
