I'm fine with the Mend nerf, but why in the name of every eldritch horror from beyond the stars can I STILL not self-target with Mend?

Unlike other abilities in which do not have self-targeting included, there is no case for this being for balance purposes. It just slows the gameplay loop to a frustrating crawl of micromanagement as I unequip each item, Mend it, then re-equip it.
