Report a translation problem
Mod contains the original Mantodean Insectoid Race mod by Sig and my two submods, Mantodean Simple Weapons and Mantodean Simple Buildings.
Sig has given me permission to continue the Mantodean Insectiod Race Mod as they do not plan to update it for 1.4 should that ever come around nor do they intend to add anything new to the race. I am eternally grateful to be given consent to expand and continue to update the Mantodean Race in the future! They're really my favorite thing in Rimworld!
- Minor change to the Mantodean race file to fix Mantodean spawning with beards.
- Adds Simple Weapons to the Mantodean Race.
- Adds Simple Buildings to the Mantodean Race.
- Adds Chemjelly to the Mantodean Race.
- Adds Mantodean Components to the Mantodean Race.
- Adds a new backstory, the Mantodean Crafter to the Mantodean Race.
- Adds a new mutagen, the Maroon mutagen, to the Mantodean Race. (Blunt damage instead of cut damage like the Red Mutagen.)
- Made some capitalization fixes to some of the mantodean backstories I saw otherwise they remain unchanged.
So instead of 'Mantodean hive builder', you now have 'Mantodean Hive Builder'.
- Some changes made to resources to build some Mantodean buildings.
Slight modification to lessen the files needed. Also realized I only need the Vanilla Expanded Framework for the piece of code I needed until I can get my own code made up so that way people don't need to get the Classical Faction extension.
*You should still try that mod out though I love it personally.
- No longer requires Vanilla Factions Expanded - Classical
- Does require Vanilla Expanded Framework.
- Temporarily made the texture for the Jelly Stonecutting Bench as the Art tables. I'll have it properly setup with its own texture this weekend.
Very minor update.
- Changed Manto Stonecutter Table texture to its proper texture.
- Changed Hive Door Blueprint to better match the actual door texture.
- Slight edit to fix a bug found involving the Jelly Heater. This fix is temporary as I update the mod. Changes the requirements to be 15 Chemjelly and 25 Mantodean Jelly.
- Changed Workgiver Defs to properly apply only to the Mantodean Tables and not mess up everyones vanilla tables.
- Thanks to DetVisor a whole bunch of new textures have been added for the Mantodean!
Textures Added:
- Mantodean Pawns
- All Mantodean Simple Weapons (and the Acid Launcher)!
- Some of the buildings have had their textures redone! Cooler, Heater, Research Table, Jelly Maker, Biological Turret, Sleeping Holes and the Manto Refinery!
- A new egg texture has been added for Mantodean as well!
These textures are the basis for what I want to see going forward and I hope to get the remaining textures updated as time goes on.
Further I'm almost done with adding the Egglayer mod to Mantodean Insectoid Race C&E. Not entirely sure when I'll have it ready but its coming soon as I can!
- Change to preview image. Also added some new images to the page.
-Changes Mantodean Baby stage to end after only a couple days rather than 14 years.
This will help with anyone using smith589's egglayer mod and will remain a standard setup until I can get a handle on what Biotech changes in this regard. Should help make your pawns more useful faster while generating them through the egg laying system.
-Slight change to fix an error that may or may not have been happening involving Mantodean Hide.
Accidentally uploaded a later change to the Mantodean Race def with the new Mantodean Hide defs included which made the game think it didn't exist.
-Added 120 new names for Male and Female Mantodeans bringing total names for both genders to 160 and cumulatively to 320 names for Mantodeans.
-Added 2 new materials under Mantodean organics, Exudate and Propolis. These can be used along with Mantodean Jelly to make Hive Wall.
Exudate: A material made from Wood, enzymes and mutagens, Mantodean use this material as a glue like substance and in enough quantity can make a suitable early hive wall material. As strong as wood.
Propolis: A material made from Mantodean Jelly, Exudate and Stone Chunks. This especially strong wall is somewhat beautiful and as strong as Marble.
Mantodean Jelly Hive walls now also have similar stats to steel walls.
-Updated some thing categories for Mantodeans.
Exudate should help in the early game and fullfills a common request for a wood like Hive wall structure.
Propolis should help in mid games to late games. Another common request for a stone chunk using wall recipe.
-Includes Broodmothers, Scarabs, Guardians, Rippers, Hulks, Jellyphid and Chemphid!
-Includes Red Jelly, Purple Jelly and Dark Green Jelly.
-Includes the ability to produce Mantodean Pawns! As well as a recipe to quickly for a high cost make them immediately.
-A new Mantodean Trader Backstory and modified Trader Pawnkind defs so that they sell more Mantodean things!
A later update will see a new faction of Mantodean who will trade with players more readily.
-A new Start Scenario, Exiled Mantodean, effectively a Naked Brutality option for Mantodeans.
-Minor change for floors to let them fade into terrain. (More like dirt does.)
-Many other small changes!
With the addition of the Egglayer mods components I both expanded and made several changes to the castes.
Broodmothers, formerly egglayers, now spawn as only female and eat a little less and produce eggs a little faster.
Scarabs eat a little less.
Blockers are now called Guardians and eat a little less.
A new spelopede type caste called a ripper. Able to haul and rescue, during combat they're fast and have a strong attack but weak armor.
A new evolution of the guardian the Hulk works well for caravans and takes a ton of hits to go down. Attack has a chance to stun.
Manspelopede/Herbmuncher has been changed to the Jellyphid. Eats a little less.
A new evolution of the jellyphid that produces chem jelly. Replaces boomalope as a need for hives.
These changes are meant to expand the castes and encourage more use of them for both combat and utility. More changes for these castes are coming in the future including new textures and more variety!
Red Jelly: Red Jelly is a paste applied to a victim that slowly burns their body from the inside out while giving the mantodeans more research knowledge.
Purple Jelly: Made from the corpses of the dead this jelly allows a mantodean to temporarily increase their research speed.
Dark Green Jelly: This jelly allows a Guardian to become a sentient Mantodean, or when used on a captive larger than 0.4 will become a jellyphid.
Quickening Recipes:
Two recipes for faster production are available for the Sentient Mantodean and the Guardians. Both require an egg and 1000 Mantodean Jelly but will produce these two castes immediately upon completion.
-One more minor change. Mantodean weapons that required wood no longer require wood and instead use Exudate.
I was not entirely done with these changes but with 1.4 coming soon I decided to push them out now rather than later. (I was going to wait till tomorrow but I accidentally caused a major error.... so yeah.) Any bugs or glitches you notice please let me know in the Bugs and Suggestions discussion so I can attend to them as soon as possible!
-Small change to fix a difference in terms between the Lifestage Defs and the Lifestage Defs defined in the Race file.
Should fix some ageing issues involving egglayer spawned pawns.

-Also added the Mantodean Acid Sac. A new grenade (molotov like) weapon.
With the initial 1.4 version you should notice some minor changes and probably will find some minor bugs. Please report them to me in the suggestions and bug report discussion so I can attend to them.
I have not yet added full functionality for Biotech baby and teenage pawns at this time as I am not quite ready for that. I need to fiddle with the games base setup to see how best to apply it to Mantodeans and get textures for the larva and nymphs made. I apologize for the time this will take.
-Mantodeans now produce bug noises in combat
-Mantodeans are now immune to environmental toxins.
-Mantodeans are now resistant to toxic buildup.
-Mantodean Acid Sac should work properly.... I hope.
-Mantodean Animal Castes are not immune to environmental toxins.
-A bunch of other very tiny probably not going to be noticed minor changes.
A big note is that due to some changes in Rimworlds code the assemblies for producing new mantodeans and quickening mantodean and guardians will probably throw up some errors. Do let me know what errors you see there or anywhere else or anything you notice that seems off. I'm sick at the moment so I haven't had as much time to test everything as I had hoped I would. Thank you for understanding!

Minor fixes.
-Fix for the sound grains being unreadable. Had that one fixed day one of the unstable build but forgot to transfer the fix over from my Testing version.
-Removed some lines of xml that were no longer needed in smith589's code. Thank you again smith!!!
