@isiarca, I know right! Mantodeans in the "lore" are actually up to 12 feet tall too... so they're much bigger than humans.

@TurtleShroom, I know. The code used for that specifically has extra bits that add additional options for me for it. I brought up the old egglayer code to simply point out theres been C# in the mod since then.

Wait, I think I know what eggs you mean. You are talking about the ones that spawn new, baby Mantodeans, right, that you craft at the Brood Mother Bench?

Did you know that doesn't need C-Sharp as of V1.6 ? You can simply set the Hatching Comp as a Pawn Kind Def of a Mantodean controlled by the player (the same Player Mantodean Pawn Kind Def used in your Scenario).

Just saw a photo that was photoshopped to make a praying mantis and a human look like they're the same size. It's a shame (though understandable) that it isn't possible to link to it here. Anyway, I thought of this mod immediately upon seeing it, so take that as you will.

IIRC, you could actually decouple from that C-Sharp and use the Vanilla Factions Expanded system for egg laying.

Then, I can resume my Starship Troopers modded game.
This time, with an actual ship to drop my grunts out of - TRULY Mobile Infantry.
I always get the jitters before a combat drop...

@SkeletorBro, It will be updated soon. Working through some code based issues. I'm not a C# person myself (at least not good) so I've got a friend of mine who has been helping out... helping out. :D

Glad to see this mod return, loved the original, however I only just found out about this continuation and it seems it doesn't work with the new update/DLC.

@[DP] fenrissama, I am afraid thats a bit beyond my ken. I appreciate you thinking about me though! AVP is a pretty heft mod with its own code and I'm not particularly good at coding right now. I've mostly been lucky and had very kind people assist me with code and only made very small modifications to it myself.

@Droider, I want to be clear the "manto clothing" is only going to be one (maybe two) items to help with some royalty dlc issues. (Can't make royal mutagens.) As far as power, yes. As Mantodeans move into Industrial tech levels I will be adding power systems to them. These will be mantodean themed of course.

@The Doom Slayer, an alpha animals reference? How do you mean? What do you want it to do? I will say my main limiting factor on making animals is textures. I don't make most of my own textures cause I'm still not the best artist so I normally purchase an artists time and skill. :P

But let me know what you're looking for! I can't promise it but I'll sure take ideas!

I can report that so far the 1.6 update is coming along with few issues. Hopefully that will hold. Concerned about the cleaning aspects but all is so far good.

Same as it has been. Recovering textures and prepping for 1.6 atm. Real life stuff has taken precedent over my modding of late.

They shouldn't... Some folk end up with slowdown with large amounts of lesser castes but I don't think I've noticed an issue with Mantodeans in general.

do mantodeans use a lot more processing power than normal pawns? im able to use 10x the amount of pawns normally. i have abt 14 mantodeans and i freeze for like 15 seconds after undrafting them all

It will have additional use for Mantodeans as I advance them into the industrial. Primary use will be as a conduit type material for many buildings and advance tech.

That depends on how much time I'm able to put in and how much money I can put towards textures. I don't have a timeline at this moment as I'm still trying to fix some pain points here and there and finish up furniture related issues. After that I intend to work on the security update followed by industrial update. Most of those bugs will show in the security one.

@The Doom Slayer, Yes. Have a few being worked on a bit. Bombardier, Centurion, Striker, Biters. Several in the works. A few concepted out a bit but they'll take time. Main limitations tend to be texture cost overall so feel free to donate to help out! Any amount helps immensely!

Bombardier is going to be a mobile artillery, Strikers are long range slow firing combat caste, Centurions generate a shield. Biters are going to be similar to Scarabs and Scourge.

@Ivelios, I do! But I barely understand all the ins and outs of CE. I'm still trying to wrap my head around all the bits I need to do for Mantodeans to make them CE compliant. If anyone wants to make a patch for it I will happily incorporate it into the main mod, but until either that happens or I manage to figure what I'm doing with CE it will probably be a bit before I can get it working.

I am sorry about that. I know CE folks have been asking for ages.

@Sammich, I did consider switching over to a system more like that but it was such a divestiture from what was already in the mod it felt like it would be way too much of a change in scope. Though I do still consider ways to incorporate that concept in some way.

endlessly growing swarm is fun but,,, i do like the idea of the mantodeans having mechanics similar to mechanitors... hivelink nodes, gestation cocoons... not to mention a queen being necessary for the hive in more than just rp

No kidding... it does look like that is going to be separate mods but his mod is SOOOOO in depth.... but does look easier especially with facing your Mantodean... I think a warrior of yours might be able to defeat a facehugger in a single strike and that is cool.
