Bug Reports and Suggestions
Let me know any bugs you encounter or suggestions you might have for the Mantodean Race here. Ideal bug report contains the following, in descending order of importance:

-likely things that make your situation unique (recently installed mods, research project in question, etc)
-reproducible description of the situation
-full error log (you can grab one by pressing Ctrl + F12)
-modlist (also contained in full log)
-savegame

If you have only one or two of these things but not the others that will at least give me a good starting point. Thank you!

Known Bugs
  • Some Biotech issues have been noted, like improper thoughts and Mantodeans spawning for some events with the wrong backstories. Sometimes Mantodeans will spawn with incorrect xenotypes. This is not intended.
  • Minor bug that causes Prisoner Mantodeans to wear available clothing.
  • Swaddle texture is currently throwing up errors.
  • Dark Green Jelly (New name incoming...) is currently not working on Guardians or Hulks. This should be updated soon.
  • Players without Biotech DLC cannot use the start scenarios and some lifestages are causing issues. The Start Scenarios can be fixed here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2933999357
    A workaround in the main mod is being worked on and the other issues are being looked into their cause.
  • For some reason some surgeries are producing extra body parts when they replace them. This may or may not be an intended feature. >.>
  • Some errors have been reported of mantodean skin tone genes not having the proper parent even though that parent is a part of core Rimworld. Looking into why this is and why it only affects some games.

Always thought it would be cool if mantodeans could experience hypothermic slowdown instead of hypothermia, so if you're playing as the mantodeans in a colder biome with winters, you have the choice between fortifying your base for hibernation, and trying to make sure your hive is well defended enough to fend off raiders trying to kidnap your sleeping colonists or steal your valulables, or instead spending extra resources to stay safer, and productive through the winter.

This may of course require some overrides like disabling MIB for 100% mantodean colonies, and making the game go faster than normal when every mantodean is hibernating, but I still think it would be a cool twist on regular rimworld, and introduce some interesting gameplay decisions.

Thats a very neat idea. I might be able to figure some concepts from it but I think it would require making some actual code rather than fiddling with xml files, I'll think about this but it will probably be awhile before I could even come close to getting that sorted.

Alternative options for colder climes and winters are something I do want to consider, while Blue Jelly is good as it has drawbacks while still fulfilling its role I would love to find some ways to expand Mantodean effectiveness in those sorts of places. (Part of the reason the buildings added have a Jelly Heater passively generating heat.

A construction suggestion: new hive wall that uses wood and jelly to provide a stronger wall at the cost of slight increase in flammability. Would be pretty useful when wanting to progress in defenses while maintaining the primal theme of the Mantodeans

Oh! I have something in the works for that actually. It's probably going to be called either a Propolis Wall or just Reinforced Hive Wall, but it's going to use a stone chunk and mantodean jelly to produce stones that can be used to build a stronger, but still fireproofed wall for better defense. I'll also likely have another level of wall for late game Mantodean hives as well as a "sterile" hive wall down the line.

Bug: when i picked the mento heater; the HUD then commits 'stop existing' and you can't place it down, making the game unplayable. Help?

Thats... New. I'll take a look on my end.

Any other information you can give me would be helpful. Do you have any other mods that might affect heaters? Does it happen with the cooler as well?

If possible with dev mode on can you try again and see if it causes an error?

@Hex-Man Should be fixed. I made a goof. When I rolled the original Mantodean Simple Buildings mod into Sig's Mantodean Insectoid Race mod I forgot that the Simple Building mod required the use of the egglayer mod. Rburn Jelly was a requirement to build it to stand in as the opposite of Blue Jelly.

Removed Rburn as a needed resource for now. Will be replaced later but thats info for a larger update.

If it continues to affect you with that same bug let me know and try to see if you can get an error message from Dev mode.

Bug?/Maybe Mod Conflict?: For whatever reason when I had this mod enabled with the rest of my mods the vanilla Butcher Table and Stonecutter table could no longer be interacted with, I couldn't force priority and pawns wouldn't interact with them on their own. Took me a few days to figure out it was this mod causing it because there were no errors or anything. Really weird
