F.A.Q. And Known Issues
I'll post frequently asked questions and their current answers here along with Compatibility and known issues.

F.A.Q.

Q: What does this mod add?

A: It adds a new faction with bases around the world, which will behave like the vanilla rough factions (tendency to bad relations over time). It also adds an scenario to start a new game as a Mantodean community, Mantodean Horde or an Exiled Mantodean. Mantodean technologies will be unresearched by default in all starts except in the Mantodean start, in which some will be already available.

This mod now also includes my two submods Simple Mantodean Weapons and Simple Mantodean Buildings as well as smith589's Spawning Through Egglayer Mod.

Q: Why doesn't X feature of Royalty, Ideology or Biotech not work with this race?

A: The original creator did not own Royalty but did own Ideology. While the mod will work fine with both some functionality from Royalty is currently not heavily supported or integrated. I am looking into options to give greater synergy with these DLC's and have some amazing things planned for Royalty if I can get it to work.

Biotech is currently somewhat supported with more planned for the future.

Q: Does this mod work with prepare carefully? Odd things keep showing up...

A: This mod doesn't cause any errors with prepare carefully aside from issues with saving premade pawns, however the nature of Prepare Carefully is heavy handed and can cause issues with pawnkind spawning throughout your games. I recommend not using it and am only just a hair away from saying its incompatible.

Q: Wardens spam meals to my Mantodean prisoners non stop.

A: This should be an issue of the past with the new food restriction system, but if you still encounter this problem, be sure to select the "Raw" food policy for that prisoner, in the health tab.

Q: Will you add more weapons?

A: More weapons are coming however, due to raid constraints I will not be applying many if any weapons to raids Mantodeans conduct against the player. They're meant to be a close range swarm tactic race and giving them too much ranged firepower makes them much harder to counter.

Q: Will you add clothes?

A: Clothes are an unlikely addition as Mantodean are effectively nudists. However for synergy with Ideology and Royalty I am looking into adding some specific clothes for ideological and Royal ranking Mantodean. Another option I'm working on is the use of Mutagens to fulfill the same needs.

Q: Is this compatible with EPOE or other mods that add bionics?

A: They won't conflict, but can't be used on Mantodeans. This mod already has its own set of custom bionics (mutagens) for most mantodean body parts.These will be expanded in the future.

Q: CE compatible?

A: I am currently working on compatibility with CE however, this will take me some time to get done. In the meantime I welcome anyone to make their own patches if they would like to until I can get the compatibility built in.

This mod can also assist in making Mantodeans function, albeit not as well as a real patch will, in the meantime.

Compatibility
Royalty DLC: Royalty has a few concepts that I'm working on to flesh out the Mantodeans synergy with that dlc. I'll share more as I get closer to completion.

Ideology DLC: Much of Ideology is compatible however I'm looking into possibly adding some minor additions to further that synergy, including "religious" clothing options for Mantodean that they otherwise don't need.

Biotech DLC: Currently being worked on to allow for functionality. Much of biotech I think will be integrated in some capacity over time.

Combat extended: There is no default compatibility, but there are modders who have made many patches for many alien races. As far as I know there is no patch for the weapons and I am still working on one myself. Others are welcome to make their own patch for it and if you let me know here I'll make sure people can find it.

Prepare carefully: They won't conflict, but prepare carefully causes significant issues with pawn spawning and causes a lot of under the hood issues. I highly recommend using Character Editor instead and never using Prepare Carefully with Mantodeans C+E.

Outfitter / Outfitted: It was incompatible with the old outfitter, but It seems to be no compatibility issues with the new reworked version called Outfitted. More extensive testing is required.

Soft warm beds: The Mantodean mod has to be first in the load order or it will cause problems.

[CP] Chicken Mitchell - Hairstyles (1.0): If both mods are active at the same time, Mantodean heads will appear as purple rectangles or the game will outright crash at the initial loading screen.

Oni Of the Rim: Several points of compatibility are both being added and being worked on.

Known Issues

- Reported issues for games without Biotech causing world generation to fail. I am working on trying to figure out why this is happening but have not yet been able to fix it.

- Some users report that their games will freeze upon trying to start up. Most often the fix for this is to go to VEF's mod options and Set "Disable Texture Caching" to a green X.

- When a new world is created, an error might appear saying that a mantodean couldn't be named. It is infrequent and has no real effect since the character's name is displayed anyway.

- Prisoner Mantodeans might wear clothes set out for them despite not being able to wear clothes normally. I believe this is fixed as I haven't seen it lately but I am unsure and testing has not been conclusive.

- Some Mantodeans spawned for quests or events may not be attached to the correct backstories and Race files. I am trying to correct this.

- Mantodeans have three "brains" The Primary Brain, the Thoracic Ganglion and the Abdominal Ganglion. They can lose up to two of these without dying. Consider that for brain scans and the occasional headless chicken concept. This is not a bug. It is officially considered a Feature.

- Using Mantodeans Continued with The Mantodean insectoid race mod or Spawning through egglayer for Mantodean insectoid race mod will cause significant errors. The Mantodean insectoid race and Spawning through egglayer for Mantodean insectoid race mods are included in Mantodeans Continued. You do not need the other mods.

- Using Mantodeans Continued with Simple Mantodean Weapons and Simple Mantodean Buildings will cause errors. Simple Mantodean Weapons and Simple Mantodean Buildings are included in Mantodeans Continued. You do not need the other mods.
