Better Batteries

A suggestion regarding long term use
Would you consider adding to this mod an optional battery degradation feature. Most batteries both now and in the 90's are primary cell. These batteries are not designed to be recharged but they can be forced to do so. This however can cause damage and degrade the battery in several ways, leading to slower recharging, faster draining, and potentially introducing mechanical failures inside which can cause a leak, complete failure, or sometimes a fire or even explosion. This is the main reason why recharging non-rechargeable batteries is not a good idea in anything but an emergency or zombie apocalypse.

Not all of this needs to be added of course, but I think besides the realism aspect, batteries losing condition over repeated charge cycles could result in a less frustrating experience than vanilla especially in the late game, while still encouraging looting for batteries and disposing of old ones.

I'll certainly be considering this, but I'm unsure of the plausibility considering incompatibilities with some mods and how Project Zomboid generally handles batteries.

I honestly came here expecting this mod to be extending batteries' life-time. I couldn't find any mod doing so. Is there a chance you can add it as a feature that can be tweaked? kind of like the sandbox gas consumption adjustable rates for vehicles and generators?

@Jimi That's something that should (theoretically) be possible, however it may only apply to specific items, I'm admittedly a little hesitant about it since it would begin editing more code, thus causing more potential incompatibilities (Ex: Radios and the like), but I'll investigate.

It could also be that the hand crank only charge up to a set amount like 20% to indicates a sort of "degraded performance" by force charging it.

Sorry to be late to the ride, but Uber I support this idea. I'd be willing to add a sandbox setting that will naturally degrade how much a battery is able to charge per recharge cycle, however I will have to consider the plausibility of it all.

Tracking number of recharge cycles might be difficult. The balancing would probably work just as well as, say, only allow the hand crank charge to recharge up to 25% of the battery capacity..

Just popping in to let you know that the feature you suggested (setting the % a hand crank can charge to) is officially implemented as a sandbox setting. Thank you for the idea!

Nice.
