In the light of this calamity, the Second Expeditionary Fleet was commissioned - a final, determined grasp for the stars. Built with the last of earths resources, the 2nd Fleet was more an armada of warships than a colony expedition. The height of old earths technological and military prowess, and - for a while - the flotilla drove back the horrors of Europa's oceans, creating a safe haven for the new frontier, ever vigilant against the fathomless depths

That was long ago, before we lost contact with earth - what followed was the Great Collapse, the fragmenting of the colonies. husks, raiders, civil wars, monsters, radiation and clowns.
So few ships of the scattered and broken 2nd Fleet remain - and with each that is lost, the dream of Europa fades."
