When ever I click the selection to pick a different Variant it just shows a box without the buttons. No custom lord. Just a good old fashion Boyar, even tried it with heroes and different factions.

It sounds like something might be causing a script break. It'd be helpful if you ran the game using

try to change a variant, close the game, then post the logfile somewhere, like pastebin. You can find the logfile in the same folder the game's .exe is in.

After selecting and deselecting mods. I believe your mod doesn't work with either Vlad Restored or "Beautiful vampires"

Vlad Restored is a mod I've authored and I know it's compatible with Variant Selector.

Beautiful vampires doesn't add anything that could potentially break Variant Selector.

Are you on linux perhaps?

Hi Marthenil, I also encountered the issue where only a box appeared instead of an interface when clicking on the selector button. I initially thought it was due to my game using different localisation, however, the problem was solved after I deselected the "Vlad von Carstein Restored" mod that you made. Btw, I am using Windows 11 and I don't know too much about modding, so I don't know if there is anything to do with OS. But, I hope this helps!

What character did you click, and what's your modlist?

So I can confirm Esprit de corps, Levvtacular with the Vlad von Carstein Restored active it causes a black box to obscure the variant box or just no options to change variants appear. To double check with just this mod and Vlad von Carstein activated the same issue appeared. I experienced this issue while playing as Karl Franz of the Empire and I was trying to swap the variants of the general. I hope this helps, The rest of my mod list allowed for the variants mod to work after Vlad von Carstein restored was deactivated. Thank you for all your hard work on both mods can't wait to see what you make in the future or just how this gets updated.

Disclaimer: I know this is not ideal feedback, since multiple other mods were on during the testing.

Did multiple tests with a couple factions in multiplayer campaign, and changing the variant of a lord (possibly/likely other characters too) caused a desync when the turn is ended.
With 2 players mp the problem was resolved by resyncing once, but with 3 people we ran into recurring desync.

Multiplayer desyncs should (hopefully) be fixed now.

the goblin big boss unit for some reason has four variants but variant 3 and 4 are both the exact same from what i can tell

The third and fourth Empire Captain variants are not normal campaign variants, I think vanilla Captains should have only the campaign 01 and 02 variants there. Bright Wizards have something similar. There is an alt version of each variant that is a duplicate of the real campaign variant.

That's fine, honestly, it's because generating the tables is automated. Worst case scenario duplicate variants exist here and there, you can just not use them.

It won't cause any issues with the mod or the game (most of the time, thorgrim has a second variant that causes a hard crash but I think I've got most of these :P)

Seems like for Slann Mage-Priests the button to select variant doesn't show?

Same situation as others who have posted here. I have other mods running, so my input and situation is probably bunk, but seeing what some others on this thread said, I tested it and running this mod in conjunction with Vlad Restored made the Variant menu not appear for me. When I disabled it, the variant menu appears fine. Everything runs normally, though, no crashes or anything. Just the variant menu doesn't pop up, it's a blank square box when I click the menu on the top-left of the character page.

Running on 64-bit Windows 11.
