I have no idea how to make plugins, sorry xD
If the mod is in a state I want it in (multiplayer, a few bug fixes, etc.) then I might look into it.

Is it possible to try to get in tough with the person who made he grid pickup mod? His works in mp just without your rotate functionality.

this mod is based on the gird pickup mod. so it has all of his mp code. But it won't work with my fixed of the position glitches and the added rotation. Give me a few days, mp should work very soon(TM)

I was thinking about this, if you're aware what the kinesis module is from Dead Space, perhaps have it as a special weapon (or built into the suit), if your ship is above this 20x20x20 limit, you have to attach a cheap-to-build kinesis plate on your ships that act as a pick-up point for the kinesis module on the suit, otherwise it works like normal. Check it out, if you don't know what I mean. It's still on the engineering theme, too, as it's used by the main character, who happens to be a space engineer :)

As Expert Shipbreaker after 290+ hours I say - YES!
i think it could be interesting if there was a tool you could buil and use that would allow you to move heavier masses than you could move by yourself.

something to use as a chartool but hasnt as much power as a purpose build lifter.

hmm... Something like a winch, a tether and an anchor ( an anchoring point)? But that probably wouldn't be "character tools"... So probably something more in the style of Hardspace:Shipbreaker as mentioned above

jep something like that but also still allowing to move smaller stuff without the tool, for example the cargo crates.

I already have a made something similar, but there are still a few bugs until I release it into the wild.
A tether -> grid to grid
A "winch" you could call it. The player gets pulled towards the grid.

I have no idea if this would work: At the moment the winch (as a character tool) is active and the tether is stretched between the grid and the player/character, the player's computational weight is temporarily increased 10-100x. This could possibly make sure move the grid, and not the player.

Or some way of "cheater switching" between station / ship option.
