I have noticed that trying to grab grids around you, while in simultaneous motion (On a flying ship, e.t.s.), the grabbed object lags behind.

I did not look at the code, but I can guess that when applying dampening to the object, before multiplying by the dampening factor the interacting character's velocity should be subtracted to get it's relative velocity.
