The rewards to me honestly should be an option between a weapon a vehicle and a reinforcement type. this way you guarentee all of the content sees general use as most reinforcements aside from heroes are killable and thus tend to only be of use for the next wave or next several waves. there's enough random in each category to make sure of that.
a better idea is bonus waves should have something to make them worth it. maybe an extra round of rewards to help deal with the ammo strain some of them present.
