Halo: The Master Chief Collection

Halo: The Master Chief Collection

Better With Friends - A Halo CE Campaign Mod
Random level flow idea 343 guilty spark and the library.
Mission starts, the player and a small squad of marines get off the pelican, another squad is seen at the wreck of the other pelican a captured grunt is seen, the marines are obviously confused about what is going on.

As you move forward you approach the downed dropship and see several jackals firing on the marines only to eat grenades while grunts retreat across the treebranch.

"we have them on the run, wait something is wrong here." type moment as you move up.

As you get to the outside you see the explosions and gunfire a marine calls over the radio trying to pick up the other squad but gets nothing. other marines talk and as the lift comes up a marine speaks up.

"you go ahead chief we will hold this area till reinforcements arrive."

So the player goes down alone, the first section is standard up until the meeting of the flood, the doors break the combat forms come forth and chaos starts.

As you move back you are directed back to the orginial lift marines firing from the room as they hold off flood. upon entering the lift room you will see several marines on the lift with supplies another soldier hits the button only for a noise to be heard and the lift to "explode" at the sides and drop killing all on it.

This shifts you to moving deeper with limited marine support watching them fail against the flood. though some groups would be holding out.

Getting to the second lift, you will see something unique two marines armed with flamethrowers and seeming immunity(can't be grabbed by poppers) are burning the flood holding the line as other marines move in. on entering the room for the other lift you will see it coming down several wounded marines all around dead flood combat forms laying in a pile.

The situation is bad, and "WE need to get out of here." being said by a few marines.

-------------
heading up the lift you will hear sounds of combat up top you will see the remains of a make shift FOB.

A disabled hog with its turret still in use out on the grounds marines holding the line as foe hammer calls in explaining they lost your signal like normal.

A push is made to the tower, with a few flamethrower marines taking point. the sentinals appear earlier though, just as you get ambushed from above sentinel beams take out the poppers. and focus on those while marines focus the combat forms.

Moving to the tower the player actually gets a longer time in this area being directed to the other side of the tower where a pelican lands, marines getting on. just as the player is about to 343 "Abucts him in a few marineis. explaining the situation and pulling them into the library."

----------------
THE LIBRARY
----------------

This starts with chief and 3 other marines being teleported in. a sentinal flies in and would "drop something" for the marines giving them a light shield (enough to protect from a few poppers)

Level differences, in this is the library isn't just the flood but vs covenant as well, or at least the remains of their equipment and a few hunters. marines are scarce in this mission but at each floor you are given at least 3 shielded marines as firesupport.on the last level one is armed with a flamethrower.

Flow wise you see a lot more of the sentinels and as a result a lot more of the flood. Even flood controlled ghosts make a showing in the more open areas replacing some of the cheep rocket flood placements.

This is actually something I'm really curious as to how it would be handled. There haven't been any Flood encounters yet. In Vanilla, the Flood are designed to easily overpower and kill any group of Marines, so a lot of work would have to be done to make the Marines have more survivability against the Flood. The only thing I could think of would either be to reduce the number of infection forms, which probably wouldn't be that fun, or to make the Marines partially/completely immune to infection forms latching on. Or maybe neither and just use some really clever scripting to make encounters much less likely to end with all the Marines latched onto by infection forms.

Can be done with some balance, make johnson immune to being latched onto, and add ODSTS which would be immune do to their armor.

Those are very interesting ideas.
