Darkvision Trait Cost Info
When I launched this mod, I made Darkvision cost 4 trait points because I feel it is significantly better than Cat's Eyes, which costs 2. A higher cost has been requested, and I do not want to make 5 or 10 copies of this mod to accommodate all of the different costs someone may consider best for their server, so I allowed people to submit votes regarding the best default point value for the Darkvision trait, from 1 to 10 points.

Voting is now closed. You're very, very late to the party.

Including votes from Discord, votes below, and Mattsby (from my comments), I've received the following votes:

2, 3, 5, 8, 3, 4, 10, 0, 6, 6, 5.5, 4, 0, and 4.

The average rounds to 5. However, without the votes that want it to be more than 4, the average is 4. The average of people who want it to be more than 4 is 7.

Therefore, in order to attempt to accommodate people on both sides of this issue, I've released my own patch of this mod that will change the cost to 7 points. Anyone who wants to use this patch to make spin-off patches for different costs is absolutely welcome to do so.

Given how much of a boon this would be, I'd say something along the lines of 6-7, since it's quite valuable basically have a constant free light source, though that's just my opinion.

Edit: Thinking about it a little more, 5 or 6 points should be a bit more balanced actually.

4 points because its for user experience not balance, people who dont want easy nights would not take this trait, but people who hate unskippable nights on mp servers can use this trait.

players who min-max wouldnt take the trait ever, so (in my opinion) it doesnt matter what this trait costs. if you make it too expensive then it would never be used and people would complain about nights again (back to the beginning of the problem).

Totally hear you, Yule. I am doing my best to respect the average request, but I definitely understand that for many people this is simply a user experience issue, and that is why there will always be a sandbox option for allowing everyone to activate Darkvision for free (using Mod Options).

I have to say, this should at least costs 6 or 8 points, or even 10. For it completely negates any darkness' effects on character let it be foraging or seeing at night, making cat's eyes looks real bad and unworthy.

Cat's Eyes IS unworthy on a fundamental level. Darkvision just shows people the truth. :steamhappy:

Bahahaha but you are welcome to write a Darkvision cost patch. All you would need to do is overwrite the trait file (mods/Darkvision/media/lua/shared/Darkvision.lua) and change the 4 to something else, then add this mod as a requirement in mod.info.

I am going to publish a patch for this today that will make it cost 7 points, which is the average among people who requested that it cost more than 4.
