Edit: Thinking about it a little more, 5 or 6 points should be a bit more balanced actually.
players who min-max wouldnt take the trait ever, so (in my opinion) it doesnt matter what this trait costs. if you make it too expensive then it would never be used and people would complain about nights again (back to the beginning of the problem).
Totally hear you, Yule. I am doing my best to respect the average request, but I definitely understand that for many people this is simply a user experience issue, and that is why there will always be a sandbox option for allowing everyone to activate Darkvision for free (using Mod Options).

Cat's Eyes IS unworthy on a fundamental level. Darkvision just shows people the truth.
Bahahaha but you are welcome to write a Darkvision cost patch. All you would need to do is overwrite the trait file (mods/Darkvision/media/lua/shared/Darkvision.lua) and change the 4 to something else, then add this mod as a requirement in mod.info.
