Borrowing Nagash's omnipotence in the battle will increase the possession dramatically while having a successful Waaagh against the Humans will sharply reduce it. You can also use the mad cap to reduce the possession but it will cost you money and your leader's movement will drop significantly. You can be free from these debuffs by occupying Nagashizzar and building a landmark there. "

You can be free from these debuffs by occupying Nagashizzar and building it's landmark there.
