Button Control Guide Thread - Please Read!
With the release of update 1.1, the control switch system used to enable/disable the AI spawning first seen in Diamondback AI Battlefield has been brought to this mod. It functions nearly identically to Diamondback’s, with the addition of what I like to call “Pronto” switches. These new buttons allow players to instantly spawn in a group of reinforcements, which are placed near the corresponding faction’s base. So, if your allies (or enemies) have been defeated and you don’t feel like waiting for a dropship, just press one of these buttons to instantly create some new AI! Read below for more info on these Pronto switches, plus the controllers for each dropship and AI vehicle.
  • A solid and intermittent flashing GREEN switch indicates the squad is disabled and ready for activation.
  • A solid YELLOW switch indicates the squad is enabled and in use.

So what are these new fast response switches anyways?

After the starting squads have been defeated, you are free to use these to call back these troops if needed. Press it once, and it turns to yellow. Your corresponding AI squad should now spawn in. Please do not press the switch again after it becomes yellow. The button will automatically revert to green once all members of the squad have been eliminated. At this time, you are now free to use the switch again. Manually reverting the switch to green can lead to instability with the system/code.

**A warning before we proceed:** Please be careful with all of these new controls you now have. The AI’s engine, and Halo 3’s game engine can be easily overstressed when too many AI are alive and present on map at once. I do not recommend having all squads enabled, plus using the pronto switches simultaneously. Too many AI on map can lead to intelligence loss, and game stability issues.

Covenant Dropship Deployed Forces Controllers:

Starting in the Covenant (red side of the map) base, entering the room from outdoors with the Power Drain, Mauler, Needler, and Incendiary grenades, you should see 4 buttons throughout the array of PC’s laying flat. Going from front to back:

1 - Covenant light infantry Phantom drop. (Grunts/Jackals)
2 - Covenant medium forces Phantom drop. (Brutes and a scout vehicle)
3 - Covenant Heavy forces Phantom drop. (Hunter Pair and Wraith)
4 - Covenant Special Forces Phantom Drop. (Active Camo Brutes and Grunts)

*Numbers 1-3 are enabled by default. 4 defaults to off.*

Proceeding up into the upper interior floor of the base with the door controller, there are two additional buttons. These control the close air support for the Covenant team. Looking again from left to right:

1 - Banshee A spawn controller.
2 - Banshee B spawn controller.

*The A spawn is enabled by default. B defaults to off.*

Covenant Rapid Response Controllers:

In addition to the switches mentioned above, there are now two additional buttons for calling in rapid response reinforcements. These I refer to as “pronto” switches. The first is located on the exterior of the Covenant base, on a cylinder surface very close to the old Shotgun spawn (which now is a Mauler), also close to a Carbine. This spawns in a group of Grunts and Jackals. There is a second button located on a wall next to the main Covenant AI control room. This one allows you to call in a Brute Pack.

UNSC Dropship Deployed Forces

Now, when entering the UNSC base (blue) from the same entrance referred to above in the Covenant section (coming from outside, the bases are identical), you will see 5 buttons throughout the PC array laying flat. These control the Pelican drops, Spartans, and UNSC vehicles. Looking from left to right:

1 - Marines Pelican Drop.
2 - ODST Pelican Drop.
3 - Spartan Spawn.
4 - Warthog Spawn.
5 - Mongoose Spawn.

*Numbers 1-4 are enabled by default. 5 is off by default.*

Moving up a level, into the interior upper floor, you will see an additional two buttons next to more computers. These control the UNSC close air support. Again, looking left to right:

1 - Hornet A spawn controller.
2 - Hornet B spawn controller.

*The A spawn is enabled by default. B defaults to off.*

UNSC Rapid Response Controllers:

The UNSC also has a rapid reinforcement switch that players can use. This switch is located on a cylinder shaped structure, just above the Shotgun spawn on the exterior front of the base. It is also next to a Battle Rifle. This button allows you to summon a group of Marines. The same system that governs the Covenant pronto switches also applies to this one!

The Additional “Take out the Trash” Switch:

One additional item I wanted to address with this update was the amount of garbage that AI drops. In my previous H3 maps, you will see the arena slowly get covered in unused equipment and grenades over time. It will begin to really pile up! The only way to clean these items up was to start another round and lose all of your deployed AI. This button allows you to clean up the arena, without deleting all the AI with a new round start. This switch is located on the cliffside, near the center of the map.

To use it properly, press the switch to turn it YELLOW. Continue looking at it for a few seconds until it automatically turns GREEN. The garbage cleanup is now complete and you can walk away. The reason you should not look away during this time is due to the fact Halo 3 does not recycle anything that is too close to a player, or in view being looked at by the player. Keeping your back to the map allows for a thorough, effective clean up.

Enjoy the new system and let me know any thoughts, questions, or concerns below or in the general comments section!
