About the mod and known issues
Hello,

This post serves a little bit like a Q&A without actual Qs, but rather what I think players would ask about.

This is, officially, my first (published) mod.
I've made some other mods, and am working on other ones - but all of them are currently either private or in development. Not ready to be published yet, or me not feeling like they are decently made for them to be published. My focus on mods is either QoL, or something to be paired with mods like 10 Years Later (in short: survival focused mods).

About the mod
For starters, this mod was initially going to be a private mod for me and my friends to play with, but I decided to make it public because "why not?", born out of my experience playing the game and what I felt "would be nice to have" on many occasions, specially during scavenging/looting times.

On the process of making it, I changed the model's position a lot.

Originally it would hang on more of an angle than the way it is right now, and before that I planned on making it so you would be able to wear two duffel bags and any backpack, making it 3 bags for your character to carry + the 2 that you can carry on each hand. But after a lot of consideration and planning, as well as asking around and doing some thinking; I decided to go with what we have today.

All the other options would looked good in 1 position and totally wrong whenever you'd aim, crouch or sit, or the duffelbag would look bad on its own (because of the space left to avoid clipping with other possible bags or attached weapons that go on the same/near area). Screenshots I could find about previous version[i.imgur.com]

I'll still be looking for a better position, for now it'll stay as is.

Known issues:
  • Clipping with other bags that go on the same area
  • Incompatibility with some mods that modify the base duffel bag (list below, will update as I find more)
  • Weird bug when you attach a slot to the duffel bag (with the Two Weapons on Back mod) while wearing it on your lower back, even tho the duffel bag isn't equipped anymore, you can still see it on your lower back. Equipping the duffel bag again fixes it, and it is always recommended to attach the slot with an empty backpack and unequipped as the mod forces you to unequip and empties your bags anyways. This is how Two Weapons on Back works, nothing I can do about it.
  • Bags sometimes get duplicated (also the items inside them) for whatever reason? Could be related to the bug above, I'll look into this - it could be a bug with the Two Weapons on Back mod as both use the same recipe. I think I know how to fix it. I think this doesn't happen anymore, at least I wasn't able to replicate it.

Incompatible (or semi-incompatible) mods:
  • Noir's Attachments (semi-incompatible)
  • AuthenticZ's Attachments (semi-incompatible)
  • Essential Crafting (semi-incompatible)
  • Modified Backpacks (semi-incompatible)
  • Customizable Containers (semi-incompatible)
  • (If you know of any other, please let me know which)

Mods being "semi-incompatible" means that 1 function/option may replace the other, or work but only during X or Y conditions.

For example, if you modify my duffel bag with Noir's Attachments (in the picture below) the slot gets added, but you can only see it when you choose the "Equip on Back" option, when you choose the "Equip on Lower Back" option - the slot doesn't show, however; that doesn't mean that your duffel bag will lose it, in fact equipping it back on your back (lol) will show it again. So you won't lose resources if you upgrade it, it just won't show/work on said situation.

Can still be used, therefore it's semi-incompatible.

Next picture shows my duffel bag (in this case a trauma bag for visibility purposes) equipped on lower back, and a large backpack equipped on back; the large backpack being upgraded with Noir's Attachments, and my duffel bag with my patch for Two Weapons on Back, making it so my character can carry 3 weapons.

Picture with only weapons on it, double holster with guns attached, weapons attached to both sides of the belt, Large Backpack upgraded with Weapon Slot (Noir's Attachments), my Duffel Bag upgraded with my Two Weapons on Back patch, and your usual Back slot; making it 7 weapons in total that your character can carry.

"you won't lose resources if you upgrade it, it just won't show/work on said situation."

with this you mean that the weapons attached to the duffel bag cant be pulled out? or that its just a visual thing? because show/WORK confusses me.

if its just a visual thing that only affects the back models and doesnt make invisible the weapons you pull out from the duffel bag's slots or plain dont be able to pull out the items youre using in those slots then its not a problem at all. the only "problem" there is that you wont look like an amalgamation of weapons haha.

Hello,

Yes, I believe you understood it in the way I meant it back then. Basically the mod is awfully done, and it also has lots of bugs. I haven't been playing Zomboid for a while now, so I don't properly recall the many issues the mod has or what I meant with some of the things that I wrote.

I think it was that when the duffelbag is equipped on your Lower Back, and if it has any attachments, both the slots on your hotbar and the visual representations on the model won't show, and if I recall correctly; they also won't work.

I don't remember if it would unequip whatever you had on those slots, or if they would just go to the void until you equipped the duffelbag on your Back again. But I do remember not losing resources/being able to get them back.
I see that it is crossed off the list already but i just encountered the issue where the duffelbag and everything in it is duplicated
