Dunno if im posting this on right place but...
I keep crashing when one of my characters are approaching Admag...
and this is at the end of the log everytime.

Upon checking deeper into the logs i found several warnings of "invalid colour" and
this one stuck out for me

i only get these warnings at Admag.
Although there are ridiculous amount of people in every city but i doubt that is causing it.

You can try turning off "Generate Distant Towns" in the Graphics Menu (it's a check box) which might help fix these specific errors:

Generate Distant Towns can cause crashing very rarely, especially with Universal Wasteland Expansion which adds quite a lot of new towns. It really depends on your computer hardware, to be honest.

As for the "part map contains invalid colour", those are more than likely some kind of Community Part Map related error (or a combination of CPM and one of the various clothing mods on the list). I have not been able to track down the specific mod which causes it, but typically a Part Map error would not cause a crash.

If there's a missing Part Map, the worst thing that would normally happen is like an invisible "graphical" issue, ie. like they're missing an arm (graphically). When I normally play, I have not noticed anyone missing random body parts. When I do, I tend to make a patch and fix it (for example the "YAKNM Patch").

Please let me know if disabling the "Generate Distant Towns" option in the Graphics Menu helps you out.


For specifically Admag, thank you for letting me know. I can go take a look and see what specifically would cause that error there (looks like one of the main gates according to your logs), but that wouldn't cause a crash either, at least from my experience. That specific error code for "Mesh Gate Level 02_Door.mesh has multiple uv sets" would normally just mean it has an overlapping "UV" texture.

Another thing to keep in mind, I'm sure you've already done it, but please make sure the Load Order is also correct, it's pretty important.

Also, please make sure you have the CTD Fix[www.nexusmods.com] installed as well, this will fix like 99% of crashing issues that were present in Vanilla Kenshi and it will also make an "autogenerated patch" which will fix other minor issues on the list automatically. :cactusrum::beeped:

The "-KCF Autogenerated Patch-.mod" will need to be loaded last, at the very end of the load order, for it to work properly.

Havent crashed yet pretty sure it was the load order "-KCF Autogenerated Patch-.mod" was third to last

dont know why it was third to last but some 9pm and 4am mod was after it

Started crashing from time to time now again and it does not create a crash log idk whats wrong
the game just laggs as if its loading in things which is understandable but then it just offs

Let me copy and paste something from another comment for someone having similar issues as this.

Some things on this list are really dependent on your computer specs to be honest, namely things like Shadows or other similar things can cause slowdowns / lag at times, particularly in large battles or heavily populated areas.

Crashing / Slow Gameplay Tips

Below are some tips I've gathered which can help with random issues for this mod pack.
Greatly depends on computer hardware.


  • If you experience random crashing, please make sure to install the Kenshi CTD Fix[www.nexusmods.com] from Nexus (requires manual install). This should alleviate most random CTDs that had to do with (vanilla) animations and other small engine related issues. It will automatically create a new patch named "KCF autogenerated patch". Make sure it's loaded at the very bottom.

  • Distant Towns and the accompanying UWE Patch can cause mesh loading errors, which can eventually lead to crashing or slow downs (particularly in large battles). You can disable it in the Graphics menu, should you experience issues. Performance is more dependent on SSDs vs HDDs, as Kenshi generally has very little loading screens and is constantly streaming new meshes as you move around.

  • The ShaderSSAO[www.nexusmods.com] mod from Nexus can cause slight performance issues. If you've installed it, it's toggleable in-game in the Graphics menu. Try disabling it if you experience slowdowns.

  • Darker Shadows can sometimes cause CTDs, particularly in the Swamps (at least in my testing of disabling/enabling). Not sure why as the mod doesn't really change anything significant. If you experience issues, try disabling this mod as well, or turning down the in-game Shadow settings in the Graphics menu.

If you've tried the above and are still getting crashes, please let me know and I can check your crash dump files to see what could be causing it. (Ideally, make a new Discussion post).

i think i figured out what makes the game to "crash/shut off" its loading too many things at once and the engine or my pc cant handle it ( doubt it is my pc ) plus i have it on a m2 ssd
but the actual thing that it tries to load over 200~500 npc at the same time and thier gear and what not status effects all at the same time when i try to enter cities, fries the engine

Are you playing with very high population settings? I play with 1.5-2.0 total population and it works fine. Although yes there is quite a lot of NPCs if you do that lol (around 500ish in Heft if you double it).

If you want please send me your logs (kenshi .log files located in your steam/steamapps/common/kenshi folder) and your save (located in your appdata) folder.

I'm not sure what is causing you to crash like this, I would need to read your logs and/or save file to see what's going on. :cactusrum:

I have something similar to this issue. I am in Swamp where I have outpost (Hound quest, where he told you to build outpost next to Rot). It happends after few second, when the guy who sells animals, come to mine outpost, then it crash. Also it happends sometime in Admag.

I am on M.2 NVMe SSD, did everything you said and playing without 3 darker mods which I find annoiyng.

Now I save the game before crash so I can reproduce it.

Thank you, I'll go try and replicate the error myself as well. I'm not sure what would be causing that crash in particular. Although, the swamps are always the only place I crash every now and then lol.

I'll also take a look at see if any mods updated on the list, as that would probably explain why multiple people are having the same issue all of sudden. :cactusrum:

i can re-enable steam overlay to take a screenshot if the link is too sus i disabled steam overlay the past update they did cause i kept getting lagg from it due a reason

Similar issue here, my squad is stuck between drifter's last and clownsteady. Game loads then crashes 10 seconds later.

I did some testing, I completely reinstalled the game and installed the nexus mods + workshop. Imported my save, it still crashes. kenshi.log shows many warnings and a few repeated exceptions. The following appear numerous times in the log file :

03:08:18: OGRE EXCEPTION(6:FileNotFoundException): Cannot locate resource Lightning_Bolt2B.dds in resource group Particles or any other group. in ResourceGroupManager::openResource at ..\..\OgreMain\src\OgreResourceGroupManager.cpp (line 757)

I only pasted one of the numerous exceptions concerning hairs (skeleton hairs it seems)
