I simply reinstalled (overwrote) all the performance mods like PSO and Performance fix mod etc without uninstalling them or anything. Had to recopy the mod order but other then that game is now once again smooth and crash free.
One of the performance mods (i forget, i will check later and post it) had a comment that said the latest Nvidia drivers was causing some issues and the mod author was looking into it and was possibly responsible for the current crashes. I havent updated my Nvidia driver in forever so not sure that applies to me but just a heads up.
Mods like slopeless and interior smoothing mod etc that simply required me to copy a folder to the mod folder were left as is. I also did not redo the Nvidia fix.
Just leaving this info here in case someone else comes across this problem and is as clueless to modding as i am :)
Edit: The mod in question that may be causing crashes is the Kenshi CTD fix mod according to a comment on nexus as the new nvidia updates might be screwing with it. Just a heads up, dont think that was my issue as i use at least 7-8 month old drivers lol
When you revalidate through Steam, mostly it'll just overwrite any files within the Kenshi folder itself. The workshop items tend to be located in a different folder of Steam's directory. The mods.cfg file will become blank and need to be redone, and possibly some Nexus related mods since those manually get installed into Kenshi's folder.
Mods in the Kenshi/mods folder tend to be okay, the other folders are what get affected during a revalidation.
Thank you for the heads up on the CTD fix. It seems to be working fine for me on the latest Nvidia updates, so it could be a hit or miss type of thing lol
