I agree with this-- having you "die" and "reanimate" would be excellent additions for this mod.
2. An option to disable ability to bandage yourself after becoming a zombie
Please keep things highly configurable!
Deterioration mechanics, mentally and physically, would be fantastic too. People won't be as keen to get bit if they know they'll slowly lose what little remains of their minds and bodies over the coming weeks. Degrees of hunger and dietary requirements could be a thing - could require cannibalism or not, and then you'd have players struggling with the moral choices there.
I am imagining the big church in Raven Creek, all the stairs destroyed, a congregation and a pastor of functional zombies maintaining the generator and towers with noise generators and radios playing music to channel their flock into the church. One of the congregation drives a hearse out of the black zone and to the barricades at the east entrance to town. They unload the bodies of the lost they have brought peace, while their living trade partners - a group of bearded camo-clad riflemen - load up the hearse with supplies.
Across the map, in the Louisville Art Gallery, another group of survivors has fortified the blocks surrounding it, patrolling the perimeter. Posting flyers. The flyers are bold declarations warning survivors of the evil that will slowly consume even the 'good ones' and how the only cure for the infection is a bullet. "What if they bite your children? Sooner or later the dead eat the living!"
