I wonder if it also affects troops, because if yes, it would would have quite a negative effect on some elven archers.
But I like not being a pin cushion.
That's not that big of an issue, the big issue is when I switch weapons if the shield is "too big" your character decides now's the perfect time to fisticuff the orc horde and pulls out NO weapons while also dropping the shield.
It's quite annoying, it's an extra scroll you have to do every single time you switch weapons because of it and one more scroll to pull out the shield again. 3 scrolls you have to do vs the 1 you had to in vanilla which remembered if you had the shield out even on a 2h/1h weapon. Those extra scrolls add up very fast in a battle.
Oh, and companions always keep the shield on if they can.
However, I added a few extra triggers that should emulate the native behavior. Try the latest nightly patch.
